 ATF has been in mine about 25,000k's. No major problems so far.

From ZF

5 and 6-speed as well as 4HP20 automatic transmissions:

ZF 5 and 6-speed as well as the ZF 4HP20 automatic transmissions are filled maintenance-free with specially developed partially

synthetic ATF oils. Maintenance-free fills are intended for normal operating conditions. Especially driving at very high operating

temperatures can result in accelerated aging or increased wear of ATF oils. It is recommended, in the event of severe operating

conditions, such as:

- frequent highway driving in top speed range,

- offensive, sporty driving style,

- frequent trailer operation,

being above average, oil purification (oil change) on automatic transmissions is recommended between 80,000 km and 120,000 km, or

8 years, depending on the load.

In each case, only released ATF oil may be used for oil changes. And oil changes must be performed in accordance with the relevant

specifications.

I have just noticed on the Penrite site they no longer recommend their oil for the ZF's. infact I cant find SIN ATF in the products page anymore.

Ive been running Nulon SIN ATF which David (blueboost) CPV Tuning recommended for almost 10 000km's and its fine, seems to shift smoother/better than stock.

Do you mean Penrite SIN ATF? Pretty sure SIN is a Penrite not Nulon range. But as stated SIN ATF is discontinued.

I just got some of the Nulon Full Synth ATF from Supercheap, 1L bottles are on special at $15 ea atm, which works out pretty good (cheaper than 4L bottle price) + you only need to buy what you need.

I seems to meet/list just about every spec on the bottle, yes just like all the others though 'not speced' for the ZF 6.

I figure it's the same fluid The Boxstop was going to put in it and they have apparently done many then must work, like others have used the same spec syth trans in Penrite, Royal Purple and Castrol brands etc.

Let ya's know how it goes when hopefully gets done on Monday.

OK Nulon Full Syth in, box drives fine! It was just a service change, but 5L went it so a decent amount. Will likely do a second change next engine service or in the next while.

It may acutally shift a tad smoother in normal driving, and perhaps a little more 'postive' when manual shifted, but could just be placebo.
