At least it doesnt sound like an overall design problem.Sounds like there are a few quality control issues judging by this thread - but once sorted it should work fine. BTW you will see at the end of the vid how crap the standard tyres are on Fords!!! Edited 29/11/10 10:53 AM by harryh

He told Top Gear they are like skateboarding videos, made up of small clips of all the good bits, so it's cheating a little bit.Still, that's not to say I wouldn't like to have a 10th of his driving ability. He certainly knows how to handle a car.

Works a treat, dont notice any power loss either which is nice. G6ET, 2010

My XR6T is Aug08 build, and I have to say that I have been particularly disappoiinted with the AC performance since delivery, and yes I've tried all the settings possible, including manual ("semi-auto") low setting etc etc. I've asked the dealer to look at it every service, thus far they keep saying that the gas levels etc are "within normal range" and refuse to do much else, which is annoying. Perhaps if mine might be affected by the potential fault/recall I can direct them specifically to check it? They are telling me that "they've not had any problems with FG AC", but it appears from this thread that potentially there are some dodgy ones out there? And I promise I'm not just whinging - the old man has now had two different G6Es, both in darker colours, and they've both had waaaay better AC performance than mine, same with several XR6 renta-wrecks I've had. wiresquire Member 266 Member For: 19y 11m 16d Posted 09/12/10 03:39 PM Share Posted 09/12/10 03:39 PM (edited) I kinda get disappointed about the a/c performance after the car's been sitting a while and I do a warm start.I have the fan blowing always. And when it's a warm start, it's blowing air warmer than the exterior air. It feels like heat soak, and no, I haven't been flogging the car.OK, so number 1 problem is having a black 'leather' interior. That sucks up heat like a sponge. Second problem is the I6 and the B series airflow. Third problem is having a snail. Now, I don't know where the airflow for the interior comes from, but goddam, I could have poached an egg the other day. It was a coolish day, but the air coming to the interior was not just warm, but HOT! Don't even talk about what happens when it rains. Foggy windscreen. Turn A/c on, clear, exterior heat fogs, interior a/c cools. Windscreen wipers clear exterior fog. Interior goddam I'm freezing. Rinse and REPEAT STUPID!Does this affect the A/C? What A/C? Don't say this is a FG problem. My old man had a ZC Fairlane where you knew that the AC was isntant ice. Now I have the benefit of all the technology of 40 years later that can boil an egg instead of freezing it.Anyone with tips, much appreciated. Tony L Member 80 Member For: 14y 1m 12d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 01/01/11 11:19 AM Share Posted 01/01/11 11:19 AM Had my G6ET's first proper test in Melbournes 40 + degree heat and humidity and the aircon was excellent. I had it set to recirc and 20 degrees cabin temp. 10 /
harryh Donating Members 166 Member For: 14y 1m 13d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 04/01/11 01:11 PM Share Posted 04/01/11 01:11 PM My Oct 2010 model FG has no problems, much the same as Tony's above....I think we were in the same heat as I was also in Vic on the 40 degree day and my A/C was able to get the better of the heat. I suggest rather than thinking that somebody else using their A/C wrong, maybe its simply a case of there being a range of cars released with crap air conditioning and along the way Ford have fixed the problem but are not owning up to the issue with the previous faulty ones. It would be better to list all the build dates of the people with the issues then approach Ford as a group. They could not deny its a broad issue then. The other thing that I did was buy one of those reflective cardboard sheets that you put under the windscreen (between the dash and sun visor) when the car is parked in the sun and I am amazed at the difference it makes... where previously the car was boiling hot when in the sun and the heat took a little while to dissapate, there is now little heat so the aircon cools the car immediately. My windows are tinted to maximum darkness which helps.
