Hi guys new too the xr6 turbo world but all ready love them.

I am at the stage of needing a tune thanks to a collapsed cat and old caps box. So my choices are capa vcm or hp. No there isn't many tuner that will do xr6 turbo and looking at around 1000 to 1500 to get my car tuned. Had decided on a tuner and he said either use hp or capa Xcal 3.

And a mare is selling a capaxcal3 box with 2 custom tunes by spiro but they are 2 suit his car and he want 800 for the box. One tune is16psi the other is 20. His car has virtually same mods except exhaust and cooler bit different. He made 350 kw which is what mine used 2 have.

My cars got 2.5 in exhaust with supercat muffler intercooler 60 lb injectors actuator valve springs air box where battery was and shorted piping. Will have 3 in piping and new cooler soon. And hopefully surge tank.

So would I be better off getting the Xcal and getting tuner to touch up tunes for my ba mk2 manual or go vcm or hp. Also at a cost of 150hr long would it take to touch tune up. And will a ba holed this power on the bottom end and be reliable. Cheers micheal

20 psi and 350rwkw is a ba bottom end on the limit.

Also a custom tune for one car is a generic for another, your tuner might have to start all over again? A tuner on here will be able to clear that up.

I wouldn't pay $800 for an x3 with someone elses tunes. You can get a new one for $700 then find a tuner and get a proper custom tune for you car and your mods.

At the upmost limit I reckon power wise.. But Spiro knows what hes doing and will advise..

Offer your 'mate' ~$600 cause his tunes on it are worthless to you. He will need to return his car to stock, and your tuner will need to start from scratch, as these cars vary soo much and arent they vin locked still, to the previous car?

I have both and both work well, HP is good for BA and BF, SCT from Herrod offers a lot more complex tuning option of which 90% you wouldn't use. I prefer SCT on FG as it is more up to date at the moment. The main difference for the average user is that they can swap tunes with SCT but it requires the somewhat costly purchase of an X3. HP requires the tuner to install it or restore it to stock tune etc.

Cheers
