I had an old bonnet lying around and decided to build a proper working heat extractor reverse cowling onto it, im still in the shaping phase and and not sure what the genral consensus on it will be, at the end of the day it either looks gay or it dosnt pending on influences, it's pretty much 2" rear venting tapering down to 1"'at the front, still have many hours to go on it though792d7dda-f3f9-d98e.jpg792d7dda-f427-a44b.jpg792d7dda-f44c-3b43.jpg

Not for everyone but honest opinions only please, not sure if I should knock it down at the rear a bit or not, just a muckaround project but if it works will be mounting them on full steel bonnets for sale

Cheers guys

This is just the fiberglass plug being shaped, final product would be a properly mounted and working rta approved bonnet, like I said before just a knock around at the moment but could be a good thing:)

Cheers for any input

Could be a good thing mate, I don't mind the look of lowfutura's reverse cowl, but thought it may be a bit high.

Keeping the profile down will keep the lines of the car similar and make it less "stuck on" looking. I'd try and follow the lines of the ridges on the factory bonnet again to keep everything seamless and neat

Good job for having a crack though

Personally I would like it more if it taper to the join smoothly rather than how sharp it is. But in saying that the photo could be diff to seeing it in person. Nice work keep it up.

I run a vented XR8 bonnet on my F6 and can supply them. They are a little expensive though.

Works great. As I get under 40km/h I see the heat disperse from under the bonnet. Dosnt work at higher speeds though.

Keep us posted with your progress and let me know if you need assistance with idea's.

How come it doesn't work at over 40km/h? And here is me thinking that at higher speeds you would get enough airflow not to need one at all...

the sides have two angles. I prefer it a bit straighter and flowing around rather than that apex. Just copy the v8 bonnet but make it bigger

I agree, the change of angle halfway back where the bulge meets the steel looks out of place-bit like a stormtroopers head!

I would follow the bulge lines of the xr8 bonnet, but keep the profile low- what about 1 to 1 1/2" at the rear, it will flow plenty and look more in balance with the factory lines of the rest of the car. Its got to look good if people are going to buy them.
