Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with removing the centre muffle from an Xr6t before?

Seems like a cheap muffler mod for $50 worth of piping, and it apparently gives a nice deep tone...

If anyone else has any other little mods to improve sound, glad to hear them! Im in cheap DIY mod-mood.

Cheers in advance. :)

heres the topic link- http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18022&hl=center+muffler+removal&st=0

I have replaced mine with a pair of cobys, deepens the note but can cause a drone at some rpm levels (1500rpm for mine)

A bit annoying, as the auto wants to be around that rpm for best fuel economy, but if you push the selector over to performance and the revs rise slightly, its all good!

There is mention in that thread about a good exhaust guy will be able to tune the resonate frequency to a higher point where you wont notice it as much- grab a beer and enjoy the read, about 57 pages I think!

Hey Rab, Did you replace the two split pipes as well with one 3" pipe, or just cut out muffler? Curious to know as I'm planning on getting this done when exhaust shop has time. Would like a replacement pipe flange to flange no center muffler.

Can anyone explain why the exhaust splits in two anyways? Any performance benefit or noise reduction measure?
