you should tell the insurance company about every mod even stereo or tune

if there was a large claim and they didn’t want to pay out the whole not telling them about the mod is a good way to get out

and are you going to spend 50k on a solicitor to sue them when this problem arises? Probably not

I would always tell them about mods too, that's why I am with shannons, like I said NRMA do not like mods to cars.that's why they are asking for the reports ,probably hoping you will go some where else.

Wait. Who is that message directed at?

Because I started this whole thread because I DID tell them about the suspension and I want to get it all fixed up with NRMA.

I'm not going to hide anything, it's not worth the risk.

What I'm asking in this thread, is where do I take the car to get checked?

Basically my dad was talking to them and they said because it's a commercial vehicle, suspension mods must be inspected by the RTA...

Never heard of this myself, but I've never owned a commercial vehicle till now.

It usually best to take these things as you would a conversation in a room with others. half what I said was agreeing with power and the rest was saying to you they probably don't want to insure a modded car/ute.

NRMA seems to be having a bit of a wank, just take it to where ever NRMA suggests, Im guessing that "Being inspected by the RTA" means someone that can complete a blue slip, YThats where I would start

there is a guy in my factory complex in revesby that does that and never over charges, im pretty sure there would be about 10 places in kirrawee that would do it also, Even in menai

They just said it needs to be RTA approved because it's a commercial vehicle. They provided me with that list (VSI 15), so it's an engineer who has to approve it.

Well I'm taking it to the engineer this afternoon. He seems strict about it, he wants to know the load rating, leaf count, etc about it all... He said he can provide an engineers for, wait for it.... $370! Fark. Hopefully it gets approved, I don't see why it wouldn't. It's not stupidly low.

Once I get the engineers (read... IF), then I don't know where to go from there. Call NRMA and say it's all good?

I'll keep you updated. What a sh*t fight.

Here is a PDF on VSI 15 Here

It all seems fair, don't know why nrma would want this seeing on the rat site it seems ok without a engineer, unless the springs are the issue
