Anyone Likely To Try The New Garrett Gtx Turbos?

Garrett has extended the new GTX range of its turbos to the 3071 3076 and 3582.

Refer to the garrett website for the comp maps and hp potential.

GTX3076 gets close the the existing GT35 in flow. So existing GT35 hp potential with less lag. GTX3076 rated at up to 640hp

GTX3582 would be a worthwhile upgrade with more flow than the existing GT35. Should slot straight into the stock exhaust housing too. GTX3582 rated at up to 750hp.

Both offer some serious hp potential.

No doubt these will find there way into Turbo 6 engine bays over time.

Would love to see some results.

Cheers.

How much extra HP can the GTX35 make, and how does it bring it on compared to the GT35R?

Althoug I thought turbo peak hp ratings were always just a guide and people have pushed past them, out of the turbos rated effiency but still making power.

For some reason I can't see the GTX comp maps on my computer on the turbo by garret website - but can see the ordinary comp maps. However, based on a post on skylinesau the comp maps for the GTX3076 and GTX3582 are wider (more flow) and higher - more flow at higher boost levels.

Given the turbo falcon uses a 1.06 ex a/r exhaust housing (from memory) you will likely see the higher end of the hp ratings of these turbo's.....and maybe more as you've pointed out.

The main difference I can see is that these turbos use a billet machined comp wheel.

3582 runs a smaller compressor wheel than than the 35R, but due to lighter billet wheel gives better spoolup. Same turbine.

750HP rating of 3582 seems a little ambitious; maybe the 3586 with the 1.06 housing.

I've been looking at Precision & FP billet versions of these lately for a 2.6L motor.

Good to see Garrett getting their act together regarding billet wheels for smaller turbos, rather than the web misinformation recently informing that there was no advantage of cast over billet wheel.

TurboByGarrett.com - Catalog

see the above link - 82.5mm comp wheel and rated to 750hp...only time will tell whether it can flow this much hp though...maybe with E85.

Edit looks like the GTX has a slightly bigger inducer and exducer 58 trim) according to specs than the 'normal' GT35's.

Isnt Karl from Hiro using a GTX42 or 45??

I wonder what his experiences are and what benefit, whether by way of peak power, earlier spool or even fatter midrange he has seen over others with similar mods and just a standard GT42/45...

Karl????

Could possibly be going to a GTX42 in the near future if 4094 off another forum member falls through, have read good reports on the GTX Range including earlier spool and more power through mid/top end!!

From what I've seen with the bigger frame GTX turbos on falcons (Spiro's, Karls Braiden (I think)) there can only be good things!

The only thing I would be worried about is traction, we struggle with the standard BA/BF/FG turbos on normal tyres currently, going to something that spools up even harder and earlier will equal powerskids while going to the shops I think! :dontknow:

I know of a very convincing result on a smaller engine with the Precision Turbo too Brian - 420-odd rwkw on an SR20 running E85:

Yes PJ's car held an Australian drag record for an s13 for a short while - low 10 secs with street radials, manual box, E85 and a Garrett 3076.

Then went TO4Z into the 9's.....now going back to something more streetable - Precision turbo you say?.
