Hi all just trying to mobile phone that has strong reception.

we live in stanthorpe qld and in town is ok but 10 minutes out off town hopless :roflmbo: .we have 2 sheep farms out of town with no land lines.

There is some mobile signal there but I am wonder which phones have better range so we can get better reception.

Telstra seem to be the better network in the area.

goldie I always found nokia phones to have great service on next g - also the new zte phone with an external aerial plugged in has good coverage too - but make sure you buy a decent aerial if you get a phone that has external aerial capabilities :roflmbo:

I hate mobile phones. Im yet to find a mobile device that can make calls without the aid of me waving it frantically above my head, maybe have a camera and does not break down every 2minutes. I dont want a slidey phone or something with a huge touch screen, that is just something to get scratched and go wrong. I would also like it to be lightweight preferably a bit more modern than having Snake as its selling point. :roflmbo:

I just want it so I can be on the farms by myself and be able to call someone if I need to.

And by the way sattilite phones dont work in a lot of places out here either. :roflmbo:

I think it would have more to do with your service provider than the actual phone.. Telstra has the best reception out of the lot. I'm with optus and I use an iPhone, and a mate with optus also, sometimes has better reception with his nokia.. We were workin the the sticks in tassie, no optus reception at all ( no tower yet ) and a few of his sms managed to sneak through.. So go figure?

next g is the only signal out there but it is veryy weak I am looking for the strogest phone to recieve the signal.

The sad part is that telstra believe that they have full signal there when we know they dont.it also is not the lay of the farm we have hills flats and valleis all the same.

I was told by a sales rep for Telstra that you need a older style phone with an external aerial to maximize signal strength. They have a scale in store to show the phones capability. It counts out all the "stylish" fashion over function phones.
