sh*t hey.. I was looking at buying a fg but all this is kinda putting me off.. Maybe just avoid colours like black and dash that would be more noticeable then say white?

Best off inspecting some at a dealer and see what you reckon of particular colours.

Just needs a bit of loving Wanger, if you're not up to some clay bar and swirl remover action then get a pro to give it a proper detail and your faith will be restored.

Don't know of any decent detailers to recommend, but you could try rancidpunx :auto:

Dont listen to him... I have no idea what im doing. :dontknow:

I just dive in and hope for the best, seems to have worked out so far.

Correct products and techniques with a bit of patience is all it takes.

B-Series paint was just as bad, except its not bad. The FGs paint is fine... if you look after it.

Does anyone know why Ford didnt paint all the engine bay under the bonnet on the 50th Ann in Sunburst. I have notice the Nitro in photos is complete and my BA was fully painted as well but the sunburst colour stops at the top of the guards and firewall then its just a dirty brown looking base primer ( I think )

All of the fords I have had from the EF, EL, AU, BA, and the BF were all as dodgy as f*ck. Every Ford you would be able to find some thing wrong with the paint. Dog sh*t.

No one buys them for the paint any way lol :icon_ford:

My FG paint in Suduce is pretty much perfect. I am very picky and the dealer knows it up front. I also always get paint protection when I buy them even though this has a mixed result as reported in other forums. I would only lightly polish it once of twice a year. But I do wash it every weekend rain or shine. Keeping the paint clean seems to be the secret. Don't park under trees and be on the lookout for foreign matter on the painwork.

I really cannot complain about the FG paintwork at all.

Hmm ok.

Very mixed bag of opinions as usual. Thanks for the replies guys.

I am goung to lash out on a pro detailing job and go from there.

As far as washing goes I try to wash the car my self as often as possible at home and use the reccomended "two buckets" process with products I bought from carcareproducts.com (spent like $500 when I first bought the G6ET) which are as good as anything on the market (dodo etc etc).

I have also done clay bar etc already but with no great effects, I guess I must be crap at applying the products that I have hey (Lol).

Un fortunately due to being very busy most of the time I often only have time to drop past the cafe car wash which in all honesty in my opinion the cars paint work should be resilient enough to cope with as they dont seem to be too rough and dont use scrubbing brushes and brooms etc.
