Posted 11/11/10 06:26 PM Share Posted 11/11/10 06:26 PM Hello,My questions will hopefully help not only me, but also other T-Heads that cannot afford to expirement to get the best. My baby is ready for some attention. My fisrt is what are the best base upgrades for guaranteed improvement to the FG XR6 Turbo? Air intake brand, tune in W.A. , Injector brand and size, intercooler upgrade and fuel pump. There are so many options so I'd like to here about the best regarding "Bang for your Buck"The second is has anyone tried to stuff wide rims under the front end? I want more grip, so that mean more than 8.5" rims and 245's at the front. My thought is wider front guards like some I've seen in fibreglass for the BA-BF, or roll the crap out of the metal and see. If Ferrari changes their 599 from 245's to 285's for the 599GTO at the front then why can't I? Lots of the performance cars from Europe are getting wider in the battle between speed, weight and grip.Has anyone got an idea or an opinion??? Or maybe done a modification or body work to set a car up for this, for racing or tarmac rallies? Of course the plan is to whack 20" rims to get the look right too but grip comes first and I'd like to heard your thoughts. Cheers,Shane

But basic stage 1 kind of packages for bang for buck are normally siemens 60lb's, hi flow cat, x3, and tune. When it comes to coolers and exhausts, IMO there's too many good products to choose from. As for wheels, pretty sure tochi on here fit 10.5s up front.

chook Member 30 Member For: 14y 8m 8d Gender: Male Posted 17/11/10 06:26 AM Share Posted 17/11/10 06:26 AM I have managed to squeeze 18x9 inch wheels all round .265 on the rear but still run 245's on the front.Clearance is very minimal on the front however the wider wheel has stretched the 245 on the rim and it feels like it does handle alot better. I will try 255 next timeAlso a definate mod is front sway bar

I would class stage 1 as-hi flow cat-tune-replacement piping-xr8 snorkel and cut a hole in the lower section of your airboxshould see you around the 275ish rwkw mark injectors will be maxedstage 2-injectors (get f6 injectors for a cheaper option rather than dekkas, in saying that depends how far you want to go)-Intercooler-dump-CAI-retune to suitshould see you around the 310ish rwkw markstage 3-turbo porting ( internal gate diameter enlarged to at least 38mm)-stronger actuator-t04z compressor wheel-0.70 A/R compressor housing-3.5' or 4' cat back again depending on how far you want to take the car in the future-retune to suitmany different options out there, feel free anyone to correct my suggestionsI'm currently going through stage 3 at the moment but throwing a set of valve springs and a harmonic balancer at it aswell for good measure.simon from xtreme ford tuning is without a doubt the tuner to see in w.a have a think about staying with a particular manufacturer aswell example (pw race airbox wont fit with plazmaman piping etc etc)also if you can afford to do it all at once, saves alot of money in retuningcheck out the 300+ and 400+ section, should give you a good idea of the path to choose

If one wanted to really, really keep their T as stock as possible and perhaps just do a minor mod to the air intake/snorkle and get a better tune ....would it be worth it? What sort of improvement might be had? I'm guessing that an FG has 270 at the fly wheel would have maybe 230ish at the rear wheels right? Thanks to anyone who bothers to answer and just so you know ....even though my current lease is only half way through its 4 year term I've decided to retire and buy the T off the lease mob....a v slight tune will be a bit of a retirement present for the car ;-)
