I fitted a B&M cooler and a 8 inch fan with the help from Bloosted and his well fitted garage,hoist and all.

I bought the fittings of ebay so you just unclip the fittings from the heat exchanger no need to cut off the fittings. 5 mt of hose from enzed and the fan from MTQ.

Took a few hours to mount up under the drivers headlight and we used the drivers inner gaurd to mount the cooler onto.Drill some large holes for the hot air to escape out with a hole saw and just cable tied to hoses around the front sub frame and along side sub frame we also added about 1/2 lt of trans fluild,So far there has been no issues

total cost under 300 bucks.

Just wondering who here has fitted the kit from furious_8, how many k's you've done and any problems encountered since.

Also, where are guys with large coolers mounting them? I'm guessing behind passenger side fog light, but I notice Bosco did his on the drivers, bit hard to see exactly what he's done.

I'm assuming most of you topped up fluid levels? Wondering if that's why some people are complaining of problems after fitting the kit.

Ahh forgot the washer bottle is on that side!

I contacted both ZF and Herrod the other day, to see what their views on it were and possible solutions.

Here are their responses:

While ZF will not comment on the failures you mention, I can advise that ZF do not have a policy that prohibits the use of air to oil heat exchangers for the 6HP26 transmission.

The FoA unit is a 7Kw item, as long as the replacement heat exchanger is of the same (or larger) capacity, meets the flow rates of the original unit & the hoses are of equal quality & size (internal diameter), then there is no technical reason that this item would not suffice.

Please be aware that ZF is a supplier to the original manufacturers & it is our recommendation that vehicles remain as originally specified.

We have fitted aftermarket coolers for the ZF trans with no problems with the trans operation.

The only thing I would recommend is to not fit a normal aftermarket type trans cooler, we used an engine oil cooler, as the lines are a lot larger on the ZF than the old school transmissions.

On the V8 5.4 ZF trans vehicles they had metal trans lines, which can be cut and use high pressure hose from Pirtek etc.

I have not tried to remove the hard plastic tubing from the fittings on the Turbo 6 models where they enter the side of the transmission.

It may pay to see if the V8 metal lines can be fitted and rang along the side of the six engine out the front, then around to the drivers side of the car and mount a cooler unit in behind the bar under the headlight.

This is where we fit engine oil coolers to the FG model 6 + V8 models.

We know that the factory water to oil coolers fail, the trans coolers through the transmissions fail, so get rid of them all together and run a stand alone remote oil to air system cooler.

Also spoke to my local Ford dealer, was quoted $176 for a new heat exchanger, and they said yes they have had quite a few failures and getting rid of it is the best thing to do.

all still good but buy a good quality cooler.I used the drivers side because the washer bottle is on the passenger side

So what exactly did you end up keeping out the kit? It might be worth just getting the trans line fittings and sourcing the rest from elsewhere? Judging from the furious_8 ebay listing it looks as though the coolant lines just get joined together with a brass hose joiner. The trans lines fittings are barbs on one end to join to rubber hose. So if you get the trans line fittings and a descent cooler, maybe a PWR, the rest of the stuff could just be sourced from your local auto store? What type hose lasts best for this application?

Who has mounted fans on these and does it fit in the front bumper?

a few people are using them, same over on fordforums, just trying to get some feedback on how they're going now after being installed for some time.

I'm not sure they are a PWR core, as they just call it a PWR design (to me that says copy).

And apparently PWR are working on their own kit.

Have a read through these few topics there's loads of people looking into it, just not much on people reporting back on how they're now performing...
