After much thought I have decided to buy a BF II turbo before xmas. Ive looked up a few threads but cant seem to find any faults with them. Unlike the BA which is riddled with problems.

So does anyone know the advantages and disadvantages of the BF II...or is it just the best xr6t before they changed to the FG shape.

Also what mods would I need to look at for the car? As in the BA - valve springs a def. What would the BF II def mods be?

Anyone want to guess what power would come out with the mods that are definately needed (as asked above) as well with these: 3inch full exhaust with no CAT, 60lbs injectors, 4inch PW race intake, PW battery and throttle relocation, stage 2 intercooler with piping and transmission cooler. With the boost not exceeding 12psi or whatever is best for speed/life of engine.

BF 2 has stronger bottom end etc... with those mods and 12lb of boost you'd be around the 330 rwkw mark!

It dosent need to be a BF 2 to have the stronger bottom end its from 06/06 so theres a few months of BF that have it

as well.

Why run no cat though? A big high flow cat is cheap and the EPA cant rape you like if you dont have one.

(just saw your in UnZud so I guess the EPA thing dosent apply.....)

15 Pound is safe still.

Yeh as said you'll get easily over 300rwkw, probably between 320 and 360rwkw depending on boost levels.

Other than that not too much difference other than as already said with the stonger bottom end from 06/06.

I've just bought a late 07 BFMK2 and already want to mod it !! lol

Yea, no point really where a stock exhaust with hi flo cat will flow more than a 3" will.

I thought stock was twin 2.25" pipes. And aftermarket options are twin 2.5, single 3/3.5/4 is that right? Valve springs will be needed if the valves float its kinda hit and miss with whether they take the extra pressure or not.

Fixed that for you, :finger:

Seriously though, they did have a few of the earlier problems solved by the time the BF2 came out, eg the heater rod that used to jam or snap or whatever and leave you without hot air. I think they also had the issue with the rear brake hoses fixed? That was a recall thing anyways..

One I'm not sure they addressed, as seems to be on car by car basis is the rust in the welds of the boot. Do a search and you should find it easy here. Check it on any car you look at.

Bushes are another area that they never seem to have got right. Diff bush is main one that you hear about but others can be just as much a pain. Not sure they have fixed it now with FG either....

Anyways, besides those I've only seen mention of other 'normal' issues like "my box blew up after putting 400rwkw through it" and similar :fishin:

And the exhaust/manifold bolts that come loose. It's become accepted as a maintenance thing, though I think it's bloody ridiculous.

That's the last one I'm gonna add. You're making me remember all the things I don't like about my car instead of the many more things I like :fishin:
