Hey all,

Sadly I got 2 flats last week due to some tech screws in my wheels... Thanks to the tradies at work...

I now need two new tyres as the drag rims I'm currently using haven't got much meat left.

I'm at uni presently, so Money Is pretty tight. I'm after some 17's for a stock set of ba rims that don't cost the earth, but perform fairly well and will last a while. Just for regular road applications.

I'm sure at one point in time, we've all had to get new tyres for our stockies, so hopefully you have some advice.

Any suggestions as to a well priced wheel? And where do you get them from?

Thanks guys,

Dan

What is your budget?

I ask because what I might consider a well priced tyre could be more than you have to play with money wise.

If money were no object, the Goodyear f1 asymetric is hard to go by, but you are likely to pay over $250 a corner for them.

If you were looking for a sub $200 tyre I suggest Toyo T1Rs which you should be able to get for just under the $200 mark for a 235/45 R17 tyre.

If that's more than you want to spend, you should be able to pick up a Maxxis MA-Z1 for around $50 less a tyre and they are good value for money and work quite well.

If you really cant afford anything like this, buy a couple of Linglongs. They are crappy but cheap!

FWIW I had the Toyo T1R fitted on all 4 corners a month ago and they are brilliant!

Thanks Craig :)

I'm not after anything cheap and nasty, so linglongs are out. I was thinking about $200 tops I'd say...

Cheers,

Dan

In that case I would buy the Toyo T1Rs in a heart beat. I have put 3000klm on this set since last month and I reckon they are probably the best tyre I have ever fitted. Great grip wet or dry and they are a lot quieter than most too. The only thing I cant vouch for is their longevity, because I just dont know.

+3 for the KU31's.

I had the exact same problem. 2x tek screws = new tyres all around as I had excessive wear on the inside edges.

KMart tyre and auto in midland did me $175 per corner, fitted and balanced. They hold my power level very nicely, except for a full noise launch of course, that'll still spin 1 and 2 easily.

That's 235x45x17.

Great, Thanks guys!

I've looked for the other tyres mentioned (Eagles, Falken's etc) and they are all pretty expensive...

Those Kumho's sound like a good choice, and $175 fitted and balanced is great! I'll call them tomorrow Steve, cheers!

If I can rustle up the funds, I might try and get all 4 done...

Thanks again everyone,

Dan

No worries Dan. They handle the wet decently too, I'm very happy with them. Good life, decent grip, low cost. Winner! :turboboink:

Come on a cruise some time :P
