Airbox - Open Top/Sides Vs Closed

just wondering if anybody has tested the affects of, a fully enclosed airbox, compared to open sides (top, passenger side/side panel, front)

or if not tested, whats the best design for airflow / keeping out too much heatsoak.

What do you mean by opened? Lid off?

Been curious about this for next time I go down the quater.

ok here's what I mean... had to use the old BF's engine bay because the FG is at the paint shop so I cant get a new photo. haha

solid red lines = airbox sides

dashed red lines = open sides

also the hatched red lines signify the lid, but of course, im wondering having no lid & open sides is beneficial

I was planning on doing this or at least cutting some big holes in there, would there be room to fit a pod too?

going to do the filter on ours soon but needs to be able to go back to stock for servicing, wife says flat no to tuning..... :bopp: so need to find ways of making it sound and go better without flash tuning.... bugger ! :hmmm:

Looked at bluepower air boxes rab? Proven gains, use a pod filter for plenty of induction noise, and then bolt your stock airbox back in for warranty, although I don't think a different airbox would affect it?

yeah as long as I have the stock item for service, then its all good... I'll shop around although, most arent cheap at 400 bucks or more....bugger that ! :bopp:
