I was given a drive away price of 54K for a pov pack GS sedan which I thought was pretty damn good bang for buck, the only thing I baulked at was the fact it came with the monochrome screen and after owning an F6 ute with a pov screen there was no way I was going to be that disgruntled with a car I purchased again. :joy:

Ford have used the same marketing model since October 1908. This is it, this is all you get and you better bloody like it or piss off.

$40 million in R&D on a motor only to put it into a spin off label ??? seriously WTF

Where is our XR8 - G8E. And while your at it a no frills V8 that is cheap as chips with nbothing in it, and we can play with it our way. Think about it. They can just void the warrenty and make some quick cash back on it.

Nope not Fords way. First they have to piss off every Jurno and media outlet they can. Then start on their loyal customers. Then the general public.

They move half the products the general does.

Instead of being the great savior. Ford has turned this new V8 into a shotgun and shot themselves in the foot.

Yep, agree. What to do now? If they bring out a N/A XR8 it will make the GS even more unattractive 'cause it will take a big chunk of the market that just wanted a V8 and couldn't give a toss about the blower. It would also have to be in SS/Bogan special dollars to compete and importantly, make similar power. The series 2 with its tech upgrade also puts it ahead of Ford now with sat nav, etc. 2k extra gets you into the redline series with Brembos, 19's and FE2 suspension (sedan). Again, more competion.

They rushed it - are sh*ting on the FPV brand and customers who just want a V8 Falcon.

After all the bagging, the GS will be on my shopping list - just not now. When the official price 'adjustment' comes (its already starting with 10 plates) these first run cars will be great bang for buck second hand. If the N/A XR8 gets reborn - better again. Won't want one of them but it will suck down GS resale even further - sweet! I reckon low - mid 40's for a low k sedan in around 12 months :)

I know this topic is about the GS, but I wanted to clear the fact that I do see a point in the GT. For example, I ordered a brand new one, Feb 2011 build with all the bling except Sat nav (so all the standards like reverse sensing, prem sound, colour screen, tech pack, dual zone climate control, etc), and also opted in the reverse camera and leather interior. I asked them to swap the Dunlops 245's for a 5-set 265, and they agreed.

Drive away price?

$76,500.00

The only difference between the GT here and a GTP is badging and a chrome grill (plus full leather other then leather trim)... but I think what I like about it is that back in 2008, you couldn't even get a FPV F6 with these sort of options for that sort of money.

Give it a year - actually, a few months even - and we'll start seeing cheaper GS and GT's come to light. As a BRAND NEW car, it's a shame what they did about the XR8 vs GS spectrum.. it should have been the XR8 with the standard 5.0lt n/a v8 (keeping the price similar to that of xr6t's and previous brand new xr8's), and the GT, GT-P and GT-E with the supercharged version.

Spot on mate. You made the right choice with the GT. If they do rebirth the XR8, your car won't be the one that gets the big resale smack. Like I said though, I'll be looking at second hand GS values closely and might jump in one.

Hey congrats on the new toy bud :buttrock: I'm totally envious. I would even be envious if it was the GS you were getting.

I really don't think it's the GS or it's price so much. Just bad form and the usual piss poor marketing of Ford that has given everyone the shoites.

Like the GTP could not even go in the COTY this year because they said it had not changed enough ???? Drive one back to back with the old and I am sure everyone would agree their has been a lot of change. Just not visual enough for the motoring jurno's to give Ford a break. Dunno what they ever did, but they really should try and fix it with the media. cause if it was a HSV it would not only have gotten in.... it would have won

Haven't got it yet, unfortunately.. haha.. When I do though, I'll be definitely posting photos.. they're expecting it to be here by the end of the week... I quite like the GT over the GS, simply because you're getting the FPV "look". I'm not going to pay for an overpriced XR8 lookalike. :(

How true.. it's like the transition from the VE Series 1 HSV, Series 2 HSV and now Series 3? Really? It's all cosmetics and gadgets.. there's no real effort put into it.. from the look of it, we'll have a series 10 by the end of the VE life cycle, with the same 6.2lt engine.

Only a guide, but Redbook reckons for a second hand 10 plate GS sedan auto:

Private Price Guide $42,400 - $46,400

Trade In Price Guide $34,800 - $38,800

Average Km 15,000 - 25,000

Good buying when they were $56,990 new and only released in October! Going off this, you'll step into one for under 40k by year's end so happy days (unless you bought it new - doh!).

Redbook is silly in terms of cars that are only a few months old.. They say you can find a second hand 5.0L Supercharged 2010 GT for 55-60k now.. when it's only 4 months old.. Resale value of these cars are bad, but not THAT bad..

Wait some months before we look at resale on the Miami's..
