Times up on my contract and need a new phone, who do you think has the best coverage network wise?

I live on the outer fringes of Melbourne but I'm in Melbourne daily, been with Optus for the last few years but I feel the coverage in the areas I visit have been second rate compared to others on the Telstra network.

More interested in phone coverage where when you use the phone for what it was initially designed for you can HEAR the person your talking too and they can hear you....

Phone wise I think I'm pretty much sold on the new Nokia N8 given the 12 Megapixel pic below :stirthepot: but thought I'd ask before making the call to order one...

$49 contract with a very intuitive and well integrated interface from all the reviews I've seen so far.

I've probably left someone or something off the poll but that's pretty much where my focus has been so far.

You can't beat Telstra for coverage... And I love my iPhone... But yea if your after a decent camera than the nokia is the one... But the iPhone 4's camera is pretty good, I was amazed with the video quality..

I have work iphone with telstra and the service is excellent. My personal phone is with 3 and its not bad, better than optus anyway. Telstras prices are a bit expensive, but I get reception everywhere so far with them. As for the nokia, no idea, but if it takes pics like that :stirthepot:

Telstra has the best coverage. There's no disputing that, but you'll pay for it.

I'm with Optus and I find the coverage and speed really good for the areas I'm in.

I switched from Telstra to Optus because the value is so much better. Network coverage in isolated areas isn't a huge concern for me.

Slightly OT, what is the phone good for Dags? As in, do you need it for full Outlook (mail/calendar) integration? I'm looking remotely soon too and may be resigned to getting an iToy. Have only ever had Nokias but 1) Doesn't have full Outlook integration which I'm increasingly needing, and 2) The last 3, including current N97, just seem to be unreliable.

In fact my wife had an N97 as well and thankfully ahem... one of the dogs dropped it in the water bowl and we made an insurance claim.

Back on-topic... you will pay (and not through any 'comfortable' orifice either, it'll be a painful one) with Telstra

It's a phone....I want it to make electronic vocal transmissions.... :roflmbo:

(To call for Pizza....before anyone points out I have no friends...)

Which begs the question, just how small would a phone be without all the bells and whistles they have crammed into the fckers now. :omg:

2 votes for the iPhone only....didnt see that coming....

Dags, being a Telstra dealer (my mobiles on Vodafone) the NextG network is by far the best.

I would not go with a Nokia N8, as they have copped a bad review due to the crappy Symbion OS that they run.

I have played with the new Mozart and I think the Winmo7 will take the fight right up to Google and Apple in the mobile OS arena.

The Iphone will most likely do what you want, but are fragile if dropped as they are glass.
