Not sure exactly what they are from coz the description read "suit Ford CGE... FG series" lol. (ebay item # 130450218058)Mainly I'm just hoping to have the electric adjustment and indicators working on them (even if it involves some splicing of wires). I'm also hoping that the ambient temperature sensor on the left one doesn't involve too much wiring modification too. as for the painting, I'll do that myself (20 years experience). Guest XR09 Guests Posted 03/11/10 09:16 AM Share Posted 03/11/10 09:16 AM I'm not sure but from what I have seen you could splice in from the repeaters on the front guards without having to touch the ambient in the left one. I was quoted $375 each including wiring.Great find if they work out. Hope they do.

This is the reason the 50th utes didn't get mirror repeaters - no off the shelf loom available. Also - what are you going to do with your existing repeaters? FG XXXR6 Member 14 Member For: 14y 3m 11d Posted 03/11/10 12:06 PM Author Share Posted 03/11/10 12:06 PM (edited) Aah. Ok, so if I can work out the individual wires for a G6E and an 08 XR6 mirror setup, I should be able to splice the G6E mirror in (with indicators and mirror adjustments only). Was already thinking along the lines of splicing into the side repeaters (as I've already been in there when I changed to black smoked ones). Will have to hunt down a wiring diagram for the respective mirror setups I reckon.Already have some FPV badges to go where the repeaters currently are for now (might fill them and respray the guards at a later date). Will post results once I've worked out exactly what I'm doing. You will not be able to splice because the connectors for the mirrors are different in shape because of the extra two wires, the XR being oval shaped and the one with the indicator being square and they will not clip together. As for splicing there is no wire for the indicators in the Xr loom and to compensate you would have to find the wires from the main harness or use the existing wiring from the indicators and some how run it through into the door which is almost impossible .Back to the mirrors, there are a couple of companies importing these cheap sh*t copies and as they say "you get what you pay for and expect them to fail in a few months and the indicator to fill with water. also the ones from Taiwan I believe do not have a sensor on the bottom of the left hand mirror for the out side temp sensor and the one that does you will find will be about 10 deg out.Sorry bunna but on this one you have been incorrectly informed. FG XXXR6 Member 14 Member For: 14y 3m 11d Posted 04/11/10 12:56 AM Author Share Posted 04/11/10 12:56 AM (edited) Thanks for the heads up tpinto. My car must already have one of those cheap mirrors on the left because my temp has always been about 10 degrees out. On a positive note, I've also sourced a Genuine driver's side item at an obscenely low price so I might as well just pay the $280 odd for the left hand side genuine item too. Guest XR09 Guests Posted 04/11/10 10:36 AM Share Posted 04/11/10 10:36 AM Somethings are just not put together well. But can be. The Ford's ones if you have a look under the scalp, have a lot of dust and water tracks. It might be why they use to blow a few ambient temp sensors.Do the cheapies look the same ? And have the same amount of wiring for the power adjustment I wonder. The blinker is in the base and not the scalp. Nice bit of work there to dramatically incease the profit in upgrade. Splicing anywhere is not a problem. Just looked on my XR and getting to that repeater is not a problem. Or to the loom into the door or a passage neatly to all points. Not much holding that gaurd on where you need to be really.I'm packing for a boat trip for the weekend so Imight take the right manual and have a sqiz. As I said I asked my dealer for a price for the mirrors and all insundries and he gave me the $375 per side & fitting. Laughing. *beep*. Their nice but not that nice.Want to find out if you can fit a dash from an 08 GT into an XR. Pretty sure I can get the decals changed. But will or can it be pinged into the ECU or ICC or both. Keep thinking I should be nice to my Ford dealer service manager. But then I wonder if he would know. Xmas carton for the service manager lol
FG XXXR6 Member 14 Member For: 14y 3m 11d Posted 04/11/10 11:30 AM Author Share Posted 04/11/10 11:30 AM (edited) Cheers XR09. I'm just waiting for the cheapies to arrive in the post but the photos appear to have the same wiring connectors as the standard ones (or very similar at least) so will have to wait and see. Yeah, I'm not too worried about soldering wires etc, and I reckon running a couple of extra wires thru the existing wiring conduit into the doors will be fairly easy (Might have to do some minor mods to fit the temp sensor on the left mirror - again, will have to wait and see). I've already installed 4 LCD screens/DVD's in the car (plus a Hi-Def TV tuner and Slimline PS2) with 4 way A/V selectors in the front doors (for each DVD to be used as a head unit for all the other screens etc) so I've probably voided the electrics warranty already, lol. I'd be interested to know how you get on with the GT dash too mate. Edited 04/11/10 11:34 AM by FG XXXR6
