gday everyone 1 new here, have a 07 bf mk2 6t, has hdicooler,60pound injectors,ss growler,12psi acuator,flappermod,portedwastegate,full xforce exhaust,surgetank,16psi,xcal3, tuned by springy motors,makes low 340srwks. what I would like to know is it worth getting the head ported on our cars. personaly I dont know of any 1 who has, if it was done would you gain much,would it be hard to tune,is it worth doin,or is it 1 of those things on our cars that would be a waste of time. only reason I ask is cause those ls1 boys do head and cam package and get good gains. you know how it is trying to get the egde on everyone.

As far as I know there's no real gains to be had for street cars. Some people have done it in bigger builds, but the barra heads flow pretty well stock.

For naturally aspirated engines porting can make good gains with air flow as the engine has to suck the air in. On forced induction motors it's not regularly done due to the air being pushed in and it being easier to just run few more psi to make the figures.

A standard XR6 head flows 30 to 40% better than a ported 2jz :spoton: The benefits of porting correctly are not only in the power region, when we discuss flow this changes as the rpm does concurrently. If you have a serious bottom end porting & cams is a must for the following reasons;

1. Increased flow and less restriction (Boost) allowing turbo to work less and create more power otherwise known as efficiency :spoton:

2. Increased rpm speed or the amount of time required to reach a certain rpm :spoton:

3. Increases in rpm in general.

4. Less psi and heat in your plumbing, inter-cooler & inlet resulting in more consistent back to back power graphs.

5. Decreases in fuel temperature resulting in better cylinder/combustion chamber cool down between ignitions etc.etc.

An all out race ported xr6 head will flow 40 to 50% better than a 2jz ported head any and every day of the week :spoton::icon_ford::icon_ford:

Ive had mine done when we redid the engine but havent had a chance to see what type of difference its made but by all reports its definatly a positive move but by the list of your mods theres plenty more things that id spend my money on first. Perhaps look at a bigger I/c, plenum & intake kit. A good setup is worth its weight in gold & will help big time in the race for power but also in longevity because everything flows & cools alot better.

I use all plazmaman/rapid systems gear & the results are speaking for themselves & others have had awesome results using p/w so either way you'll have win.
