update- gave the car to bruce who gave it to his trans guy- spent 1200 bucks getting the trans 'fixed'. picked it up and drove 40k's home... no reverse!?

back a coupla days later, got a call after another 3 days 'car is fixed, had a bent valve body that was 'sticking'. drove 40k's home- no reverse! flaring between gears, changing gears at weird times. :bangcomputer:

phoned bruce straight away and he said bring it back and he'll give it to the trans guy- again. I couldnt do it straight away as I had a heavy work load last week, and all we used the car for was 5mins up the road to take the kids to school

did some quotes yesterday- about 15k's away. babied it (the missus was in the car, and I was paranoid now because doubted the 'fix' done), and it started to flare badly. limped it home and 2 streets away it hardly wanted to move. try 4000rpm before it would move. 5kph for the last 200m and outside my house it started to smoke- bad. shut it down and smoke was pouring out from underneath the car, and even out the air vents.

popped the boot and grabbed the extinguisher and waited and watched.

nothing more happened and when I looked under the car the trans had dumped all its fluid over the road.

had it towed yesterday back to bruces and called today to see what the go is. it's rooted. bruce reckons he hasnt smelled one so bad (the whole inside of the car smells). the convertor is burned to buggery.

waiting on a report straight from the trans guy as bruce doesnt want to get in the middle of this one- understandably.

what should I do? ask for my money back and start again? get it back again 'fixed' and hope for the best? do a bf conversion?

I reckon ive been pretty patient over the last month since I got it back 'fixed' and I havent had a whle day that it hasnt caused me trouble, but im getting rather jacked now....

Mate I'd be livid by now!!! That so called trans guy owes you for a box... plain and simple. Pursue pursue and pursue some more... obviously there wasnt something right with it before handing it over but it was his job to fix it... twice!!! And you paid a good $1200 for his services!!! And the problems you experienced after him "fixing" it were immediately evident, not 6 months or a year later so he should fund your rebuild... at the alternate transmission shop you decide on. Good luck... let us know how you go on this one.

does yours run hot? bruce now says a hi stall will run too hot for the street. first time he's mentioned it though... :dontknow:

had a pwr cooler on there for ages.behind driver side fog light. man im sick of not having my car. :bangcomputer: bruce reckons I could do a bf conversion for 6k ish using a wreck. seriously thinking about that... :buttrock:

dude ive had my trans in for at least 2.5 years now and its seen some of the most f*cked up driving around by no means do I take it easy

step 1 built trans from s.a race

step 2 custom modified stally 2800

step 3 pwr trans cooler mounted in front of the cooler up top behind the ford badge

step 4 very regular services

step 5 thrash the gayness out of it

step 6 make love to the hoff :roflmbo:

seriously dude I love the 28 stall acts exactly like a std turbo but stalls up to 3100 when on the foot brake mines done so many kms and its like new still even if it broke 2 morrow I would still have to say its done bloody well concidering what ive done to it :beerchug:

and I reckn the trans coolers dont get enough air where u got it mounted

so that's why I front mounted it and I reckn I would rather have a cool trans vs a few less rwkw and being up the top of the cooler I doubt it has a negitive effect worth worrying about anyway.

this is what ive done scotty take from it what u will I only offer advice that's worked for me :icon_ford:
