hi all

hoping you can help with some questions regarding the G6Eturbo...

1. were there any changes between 2008 and 2010 models?

2. is the G6ET actually lighter weight than the Xr6T (as it states on Redbook online). Find that hard to believe with all the additional equipment

3. is the suspension not as firm as the XR6, but firmer than stock?

4. are the servicing costs the same as the Xr6T?

many thanks guys

S

Hi Satz,

The main changes if you are purchasing a current model 50th Anniversary Edition are the Satellite Navigation, seats with "50th Anniversary edition" stitching (see the photos in my thread), silver centre console and highlights (previously black... the photos of the silver centre console dont do it justice, again refer to my photos), 19 inch wheels (look good but replacement tyres will be bloody expensive) and a little 50th Anniversary badging and carpet mats.

If you are not buying the 50th Anniversary Model, I dont think that there is any difference from 2008 to 2010.

If there is a weight difference, I am sure that you wont really feel it given it would only be very marginal and with that much power and torque, it will be negligible, noting that the rear wing of the turbo will be heavier.

I understand that it is firmer than the non turbo edition but a little softer than the XR6 Turbo. Certainly is a good compromise that is firm but comfortable for everyday driving but still handles well enough for almost anything sane that you would do on the roads.

Servicing is supposed to be the same (or so the dealer told me last week).

I ticked all the boxes (Cardigans in beige, cream, off white, ford blue and my favourite.... grey. Also slippers, pipe, bowls cap, cigar and rocking chair). Dont knock it until you have tried it.

I typically used a Tom Tom and the built in nav system is nowhere near as good however its better than having to put the tom tom up and down (cant leave them up in sydney or your window will be smashed) and plugging it in etc. Therefore it does the job and is convenient but frustrating until you have worked it out and set up your favourite addresses. The remote is a little bit of a toss, but once you get used to it, its functional and saves having numerous additional buttons on the dash or having to reach forward to touch the screen to its acceptable.

Thanks guys

Does thr cardigan come in ford blue?

Don`t worry too much if you can`t get the blue ford colour, the ladies at my bowls club have knitted my silk coloured cardigan and are more than happy to take orders.

I read in my owners manual that the fuel cap locks when you lock the car. I think this is better than having to pull a lever or press a button in the car to get to the fuel. You might not have realised its the case because you never/rarely try to access the fuel when the car is locked.

I would have thought the locking fuel cap would have been around for awhile now. Mercs use it and it does the job, its just confusing if you lend the car to someone and they havent had that type of thing before and they spend 10mins trying to find the button to open it.
