Hey guys and girls,

Just about to buy a BFMK2 XR6 turbo and just wanting to ask a few questions about the car. I know they've got the stronger bottom end in there but also wondering seeing as I plan to have this car for atleast 3 - 4 years how long will the car last if it's treated properly? I know this question is similar to how longs a piece of string but just after a rough indication if possible.

Below are 2 links that I've been looking at but ones around the 45,000km mark and the other around the 85,000km mark. Just wondering if you guys would think either car would struggle to perform well for the next few years. Both cars have always been std and both company cars. I’ll be leaving it stock for a few months but then doing the basic stuff to get around the 320rwkw mark.

Thanks guys .

The BF is one of the best models Ford has ever made.....mine has over 100k on the clock now with bugger all problems since day one :dontknow:

Regular/ correct servicing is the key and I'd say any car with a regular (genuine) service history would be a pretty safe bet.

If the seller can't provide this....walk away no matter what the price. :beerchug:

They were a popular model so there's lots out there....so bide your time and you'll find one in the colour/option that you like sooner or later....

Thanks for the advice mate, appreciate it. Yeh that's the key aint it! Especially with turbo fed vehicles. I'll be sure to make that top priority as well. I'd like something around $22,000 for 50,000kms and some options (preferably sound and leather). Think that's possible ?

May just have to take my time with it.

Haunt the car sales, trading post and drive websites.....like I said, they were pretty popular so if you can hang out for a little while.

It'll pay in the end.....there should be heaps around the mid twenties mark......good luck :blaah:

strange feeling that the white 1 is a ex cop car, it has the same optima blue top drycell battery mine has. im pretty sure it is, if it has reverse censors it is for sure. check inner front door sill for nsw police sticker. if it's from a yard ask who was the last owner and check it. by law they have to tell you. there's nothing wrong with cop cars as I have 1 as do plenty of members do.

Yea ill go with the ex chaser assumption for the white one as well. 44k for an 07 model suggests it was an inner city car, I have never seen a decent one out of the dozens I have looked at. At auctions it would go for 17-20k.

Just go check out a few cars in your budget, you might be surprised.

look alot of members will say ex cop cars are no good, but like I said I have 1 as do alot of members on here do. just get the necessary checks done service will be up there as there done every 5000ks, well mine was anyway but mine was a country car. with the amount of kms it has it not that bad. just try get price down, upside car yard should give sum sort of warranty anyway.

I have an Ex HWP BF and got it with 60,000 ks now has 105000 and been modded to 335RWKW and no dramas with it mechanically at all.

They service them well etc and I service mine every 5000ks since ive owned it.

Use the fact it an ex HWP car to bargain them down more but dont let it put you off altogether.

Plus white ones look best. :buttrock:

My comment was directed specifically at city based HWY patrol cars. My car is ex country HWY patrol putting out 300+rwkw these days with no issues besides traction. I would buy again but there are a large amount of crap ones out there you have to worry about.
