Now I don't think much of the colour and not a fan of black with silver lip wheels but together for some reason it looked bloody evil. Couldn't look away. Tony L Member 80 Member For: 14y 1m 27d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 21/11/10 08:04 AM Share Posted 21/11/10 08:04 AM Hello Harry!! Yeah, still enjoying my car heaps. A few days ago I had a F6 instrument cluster installed in my G6ET, mainly for the oil temp guage which the standard cluster does not have. The reason behind this was the fact that I never new what my oil temp was. The chaps at Blue Power Performance told me how important oil temp is, especially in a turbo. It is VERY important and it takes more then twice the time of your water temp to reach safe opperating temp. Since I have had the new cluster installed, my oil takes usually 4 times longer to reach temp then water temp. Rev a motor with cold oil and your engine wear increases MASSIVELY. Knowing this, I am much easier on my vehicle and I sometimes wait 20 - 25 minutes before I put the boot in. Water temp in 5 min, oil temp in 20+ min.I am currently trying to find out a bit more information on oil temp in our cars so I can perhaps make up a document, of some sort, to help our engines last a bit longer. I never appreciated oil temp and its importance before and I have found this to be a real eye opener. Just because water temp is good doesn't mean engines can be revved safely.Seems every new week brings a new rattle or squeak to my car as well. I guess that's the price I have paid for buying a Ford. I know some people say they never have any squeaks from their FG's but its not the case for me and many others.Hope your pride and joy is treating you well.Regards, Tony

I spend a lot of time looking after my car externally, so any info for the internals is good news.Mine has 48,000 on the clock, and not rattles or squeaks, but it does have a slight sound (like a vibration sound not an actual vibration you can feel) from about 1600-1800 rpm at slow speeds). I don`t know if this is normal or not, but I can only hear it on smooth roads from very slow acceleration.I`d really like to drive another G6ET to compare it to mine, probably sounds stupid.THnaks for the info Tony. Here I was thinking I was looking after my car waiting for it to get to temperature before giving it some gas, not knowing how long the oil took to heat up!!! At least I have found out now after 1500kms rather than after 35,000kms. Re the rattles and squeaks, I did hear a rattle coming from the drivers door at high speed (the door was closed properly) however that seems to have gone away so I have been pretty lucky to date. My recommendation to you is to drive with your window open and crank up the stereo and the car wont make any rattles nor squeaks I turned off the traction control the other day and put the boot in, whoa, all I saw was a huge plume of smoke behind me. I turned it straight back on because I dont want to ruin my tyres before 5,000kms, they are too expensive. Still loving the car, very happy with the way it drives though I have noticed that over choppy surfaces (parramatta rd, auburn up to Church st) its not too happy. I am sure that much of this is down to the 19's, though I am otherwise very happy with how the car drives. Reading on this site about all the mods and the significant increase in power from relatively small changes tempts me to play a little but then I realise that I dont REALLY need it because the car has enough power but I still WANT it. If it wasnt for voiding my warranty, I would probably get something done. In particular, I wouldnt mind changing the exhast so the car sounds a little more performance orientated. By the time I get the revs up so I can really hear it, I am going fast enough to lose my licence.I am going to do some research and confirm whether this will be an issue. I am going back to Ford to take the new GT-P for a spin as I made the dealer promise to take me when they get one. He called the other day to let me know I could drop by and take it for a test drive. I will report back on my findings once I have done it.Thanks again Tony, you are a champ. Edited 22/11/10 02:47 AM by harryh

One of the reasons I chose mine is that the colour I wanted only came on the Anniversary edition.
