Hey all!

so finally after many months of planning ive decided to get my act together and Tune my XR6T!

These are the current parts my tuner and I have discussed that will be used!

1. Rapid V2.0 highflow intercooler kit

2. Siemens 60lb injectors

3. Valve Springs

4. Walbro fuel pump

5. 12psi Actuator

6. 100Cspi highflow Cat

7. Xcal V3 tuner

Anyways I have a month still till my car goes under the modover,so I was wandering what should I be doing to make sure I can get the best Performance out of my engine!

I have been looking at things such as oil, coolants, boost solenoid pipe etc...

is there anything else that needs doing?

any info will be appreciated!

cheers!

S.S

Don't get new tyres until after the tune if you were wondering whether you should get new tyres before or after the tune - you'll lose a bit of rubber on the dyno. More on this below.

Best to get rid of any engine issues before the custom tune (but I am guessing you don't have any).

Have you thought about what tunes you want? Apart from PSI tunes like 8 PSI 10 PSI or 12 PSI, you can have tunes for fuel types. In that case, be prepared to empty your tank of 98 RON to put in 95 RON or less. So that might take you 2 days instead of the single day for a custom tune. A 95 RON tune would be handy for performance on long cruises as sometimes in country areas the highest petrol Octane rating is 95 RON. But note this, you can always drop your tune back to stock tune if the car pings (I've been told - I have not had to do this yet). So you get 4 slots all up on the Xcal3 - stock which is always there and 3 programmable slots. An example would be stock, valet (not above 3000 rpm), 8 PSI and 10 PSI (all at 98 RON except for stock). By the way, stick with fuel that you plan to use on-going. So if you prefer Mobil 98 RON Synergy 8000 then that's what you should stick with and that's what should be only in your tank on the day of the tune as much as you can help it.

Note the tuner may want to see your car a few days before hand to read off your current ECU signatures with the Xcal3 so he can work out what he has to do on the day of the custom tune - saves on time.

Here's my write up of my first tune - know it was less than what you doing, but if you have not done one before - at least that's similar.

Oh and on the topic of new tyres - if you think don't need new tyres - think again because after the tune, you will definitely want new tyres - tyres that are really grippy :roflmbo: Anyway, I went with Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics. Here's my write up of choosing tyres that I had to do after the custom tune :innocent:

Good luck with it :beerchug:
