quick question, I have two clarion 10" subs in a box that's wedged into the boot (the gap where seats fold down), the system goes pretty hard but with amp and head unit sub settings full ball it still doesn't feel as though im getting the bass I should be. the sub box completely blocks the gap where the seats fold down so im guess that no sound can travel through hence the low bass level???? because if I fold down the seats its a heap louder. so I guess I have two options.. move the sub box into main part of boot (leaving no room for golf clubs) or can u some how increase airflow with a hole in the back of the box or something similar???

sorry hard to explain and I've tried uploading photos but it keeps telling me file size to big......

anyway any help would be awesome thanks everyone.

PS I have two amps, one runs the four main speakers (sound great) and the other the subs, headunit has two rca outs, 1st set run to speaker amp the other to the sub amp. amps are both eclipse, I have played endlessly with settings on headunit and amp.

Mate, I would think its down to your tuning..

How much gain is on the amp atm?

the gain is almost at full power, same with the head unit. Because I bought the car like it I've noticed that the amps are looped via the one power cable ie power from batt goes to sub amp and then the main speakers amp is powered from there, would that be draining power from the subs???? thanks again

What amp is it? How much RMS? Watt? Channels?

To run speakers AND subs ... your looking at a pretty big amp..

I would run an amp for the subs and one for the speakers seperately

^He is.

What he is sayuing is that they are looped on the single power cable. Probably not the best setup. Depending on Gauge, current etc, you could be sapping power from both amps.

The boot is well sealed, so the sound will struggle to escape it. what you could do is find a rear parcel shelf that has the sub grill for premium sound, open up the sub hole and that will allow the air and sound to move out of your boot and into your cabin. Otherwise, you could spin the sub box around and fire them into your rear seats. If you have the rear arm rest, fold that down as well.

I got 2 12in clarions and a 1550watt monoblock with a capacitor and its more then enough doof...do your lights dim at all when playing loud doof maybe not getting enough voltage or your amp for subs could be too small and depends on the quality of your gear obviously better gear is gonna sound better

Amp sounds like its not big enough for what you want. You can always face the subs towards the front of your car as well. Need to know the power of your subs and amp as well to give you accurate answer.

Facing subs toward the front will most likely reduce the amount of bass but experiment. Sealed enclosures are really about SQ and are not the best design for bass volume. A ported box will product a lot more bass and 10 inch drivers do not play as low as a 12 or 15.

You can't just put holes in your cabinet. The internal volume of sealed enclosures is more than ported designs and there is maths involved as to port shape and location.

If you don't want to change your box type or driver size, holes in the rear parcel shelf will allow more bass to travel into the cabin. How have you got your polarity set on the sub box? Usually, running it out of phase will produce more bass. Where have you got it crossed over? How much power are you running into it?

Mate, does your revision mirror rattle off? If not then you dont have enough bass :P

I have a 12" mtx in a massive box with a 400rms amp.. running off the premium sound system..

no rca's... just a wire from the original sub in the rear shelf.. Sounds good enough for me!

I think its your amp mate... I doubt the power cable would cause less bass
