Hey Guys

I have been having some dramas with my engine ever since the rebuild. Oil is comming from somewhere and no one can tell me where

The first time I sent the car back they said oil must have been spilt over the side, the did a half assed job of degreasing it and gave it back and said if it leaks again give us a call

The second time they found a pcv valve from the manifold going in the rocker cover had blown and said that was the problem

Then I had to get the zf pulled out and found that the rear main was leaking oil (this was then blamed on the pcv valve, so we replaced the rear main

Now there is still oil leaking, I change the oil every 5000k's as it goes black at 4500.

when I pulled the filter off I got the phone up inside and took some photos and I have attached. To me it looks like it has oil leaking from the head

whats everyone else think?

looks like it may well be the headgasket leaking from those pics, (was hard to tell when I met you at easterncreek), it doesnt look like its coming any higher than the headgasket

but just check to make sure its not leaking any higher and its simply running along the ridge where the head meets the block

I would have to pull the manifold off to inspect further

Is there anywhere else on the engine that it could be leaking from? Something that was fitted to the long motor.

Also I think it's a ba block because it takes a ba oil filter... Or is it just that filter because its now a hi flow oil pump? everything else is bf mk2

it could be coming from the top of the timing cover and running back a long the head a bit.

Where the timing cover meets the head I have seen it a bit

You really need to wash it down, run it and then see where the oil is coming from.

It looks like a decent oil leak, so it shouldn't be to hard to track down.

It's hard to tell from the photos, but it doesn't appear to be higher than the head, so you may be able to rule out the rocker cover.

Ian could be right about the timing cover. Oil leaking from there is a common fault.

I just put new oil in and it's really hard to see when it's clean... I'll degrease tomorrow and see if a can find it after further inspection

He was last active Jan 2012. The lazy bugger couldn't be bothered with a follow up. For the people who have a problem and are seeking advice dont bother posting if you are not going to bother with follow up posts.
