Congratulations on the order, especially since you got a better offer form another dealer! Helps pay for all the extras hey, probably feels like you got some of the goodies for 'free' now.

We had to shop around a lot before we could find a dealer that was willing to actually discount a turbo. Most would just smile at you, write out a quote at list and then offer you a set of floormats as a sweetner. Yeah right.

that's gonna be one wild ute!

You origially posted on the 26th Oct - 1 week back that you had ordered. Given it wasn't stock either, I'm amazed that you could cancel your order.

Some? Basically got all the options free. B)

They pulled a very sweat deal :D

I experienced this also. I was told 'No-ones gonna do any discounts on the Turbo. You'll only get it for RRP.'

HA!

And to think I almost gave them a deposit.

Shop around people, as Mondie and I did. Each dealer is unique.

And don't take anything they say as gospel. (Many of you probably already know this, having dealt with car salesman before)

I learnt a lesson.

I'm too trusting.

Thanks for the post Mondie.

Have you put in your order?

I had signed, but not put down the deposit.

Therein lies the secret.

They had 2 XR6T Utes allocated to them for a Jan build. I had the first one on hold, but not actually in the system as I hadn't put down the deposit.

They didn't have any demand for the car so they were reasonably happy to give me time to sort out my situation, to their credit.

FYI - The national fleet discount is around 5K and any options usually get about 25% discount. The Vic Government discount is closer to 8K and that's for a stock N/A XR6. There is clearly room for these guys to move. Also in Vic if you can get the price below $45K exc reg and stamps, you save 1% on stamp duty - up to $45K its 4% over that and it's 5% and it's flat rate so even $1.00 over the $45K and you get hit.

Yep, we went for Phantom with Phantom interior, manual, premium brakes, premium sound, 18's, side airbags, momo wheel, scuffs etc. Went a bit crazy really, but it should be awesome. Still cant believe l paid nearly $700 for a steering wheel, but the momo is nice. Dealer had a car in stock with one and l liked it a lot. Our current car has one and l can see the worth in it. Car is expected in early Dec, plan on calling the dealer tommorow to get an update on this.

Was a bit hesitatnt about the phantom interior as l thought it may be a bit loud. But stopped in on a dealer today that had a Phantom XR in stock with phantom inetrior and it looks nice, sporty without being tacky. Whew.

Nice. Congratulations. :)

I know what you mean by 'Went a bit crazy'.

But it's hard not to...

I prefer the Sports Leather Steering Wheel myself. Nice and thick, chunky. Love it.

The extra money on the wheel is worth it. It's your link to the car. It's gotta feel good for the rest of the car to feel good I reckon.

Exactly, that's what l was thinking but you put it into words very well.

Spoke to the dealer today, who said delivery has come forward from early dec to 16th Nov. That was a big suprise. Quizzed him on LSD and traction control but he hadnt a clue. Is going to get back to me on it. Hmm.
