Did a search and could not find anything on this, but wondering if anybody has encountered this before - when I start up from cold, I get a squeaking noise from the engine bay. When I lift up the bonnet, it sounds like one of the pully wheels that the belt wraps around is squeaking and it sounds loudest from the right hand side of the engine bay as I stand in front looking into the engine bay. Only happens when engine is cold. As the engine warms up (prolly after about 5km of driving) the squeaking noise goes away and stays away whilst the engine is warm, even after I stop and start the engine again.

Because the squeaking noise goes away when the engine is hot, I am not so worried, but not sure if I should be worried. Any suggestions?

If you don't have anything try MR Sheen. It has silicon in it. Otherwise bunnings should have something just ask someone there.

Just closing this off to let you guys what the issue was for the squeaking noise.

Took the car to Pit Lane Performance in Frankston and they found that the belt had a crack in it (see pic) so got that replaced and also the idle pully bearings were rough so had that replaced the idle pully as well.

Now when I start it up, no more squeaking noise from the engine bay - thanks Mick :turboboink:

Yeah, it's an annoying sound - mine cost $25 supplied. I got it fitted at Pit Lane Performance. Tell you what - it's sooooo good now not having that squeaking noise anymore. And to be honest, it's a bit like a ticking time bomb along with the crack in my fan belt - you never know when it decides to break but you'll know it'll be at an inconvenient time :nono: So might as well get it sorted out now whilst you can plan for it in my opinion.

Looking back now - I reckon I could hear that squeaking sound from the idle pulley since when I bought the car about 1 1/3 years ago - just that it had recently gotten louder - possibly after the skid pan day :innocent:

Sounds like this could be one of those common issues with our cars - I'm working my way through the list
