hi all

coming closer, and closer, to making a decision on a Ford. Now wondering what the thoughts are on the G6ET vs XR6T.

Not meaning to start a 'war', but to try to focus on particular things:

1. handling (esp given the XR6 has the LSD, and the G6E doesn't)

2. acceleration (in gear and 0-100)

3. NVH

Saw a 50th Anniv G6ET in Ego/Edge and it looked beastly! (in a good way I mean!)

btw, what exactly is the difference between the Edge and Ego colour?

Really the only thing you can do is take one of each for a decent drive.

Personally I'm a fan of the open diff so don't see it as a detriment, it's allot more precise and predictable then the LSD that seems to love a bit of tailslide...which although is exhilarating is not the best for suburban street corners and roundabouts.

Acceleration is marginally better in the G-Spec which is I assume from the slightly softer supension/diff setup.

Only difference in NVH would again come back to the diff, no whine at 95km/h like 90% of the LSDs out there.

If you're just looking for something fairly standard option wise then the G6ET probably doesn't make a great deal of sense, but if you're going to start adding all the optional extras then you're at the same price point (+ you get extras that aren't available on the XR)

So it's a no brainer....G6ET :buttrock: (totally unbiased opinion)

I have stiffer lower springs so there goes the idea of softer suspension, and easily does sub 5 0-100km/h easily on the street so traction isn't an issue

If your a hard hills driver the xr would be better but the g6e overall can not be beaten

Honestly I say buy the one you like the look of better

just a couple of questions about the G6ET....

1. what colour is the dash lighting at night? Is it blue like the XR6, or white?

2. does the glovebox have a 'damped' motion, or does it just drop, like in the normal Falcons?

cheers

All white (red speedo/tacho needles)

And no to the glovebox, just drops like the rest of them. Never really thought of that or noticed it before...but now it's sh*tting me off :buttrock:
