Upgrading Sound System

Hi I'm new and would like some help I bought a ford fg xr6 50th Ann and I only have the 4 speaker stereo and it's not that great and I was looking at the alpine X series I don't really want to get a headunit just speakers , amp n subby will this still produce good quality sound from the ICC which is the colour screen with the amp and does anyone know any good places in Melbourne were I can get the install done or does anyone on this forum able to help me with the install I've never done anything like it so I do not have a clue how to install it and one more thing what

Size speakers are the best to get, 5 1/4 or 6.5 inch .

I also want to run the same setup with a stock Head unit.

I was told by one person that a good recent amp will plug right into the stock head unit. However others were telling me that I will need to convert the ICC to a RCA in order to amp it up.

Hey guys.. I don't have a FG , but I initially went the same route with my BF. Most of the newish amps have builtin converters in them therefore basically no need to spend extra for a line level converter. It's def'n an improvement with an amp and after market speakers. I just got installed an Alpine Hu and you can hear the diff.. The stock HU is very limited... my advice get an after market hu while you're shopping for amp/speakers...the Eclipse 5030 is going cheaply..or look in to processors such as the highly anticipated MS-8 (expensive though)
