However others were telling me that I will need to convert the ICC to a RCA in order to amp it up.

Is it just plug n play or does it depend on the amp? What amp would you recommend?

I don't have a FG , but I initially went the same route with my BF. Most of the newish amps have builtin converters in them therefore basically no need to spend extra for a line level converter. It's def'n an improvement with an amp and after market speakers. I just got installed an Alpine Hu and you can hear the diff.. The stock HU is very limited... my advice get an after market hu while you're shopping for amp/speakers...the Eclipse 5030 is going cheaply..or look in to processors such as the highly anticipated MS-8 (expensive though)
