Don't get me wrong, it goes well, but I was under the impression it was like "throw your head back" acceleration when you put your foot down, but its more smooth & controlled acceleration, so now I'm worried there may be something wrong with it. Does a Turbo work or not work at all, or some slowly deteriorate, hence less power? Sorry if this is a noob question but I only know the basics(at best) :(

The acceleration is deceiving and it doesn't give you that neck-jarring motion you may have been expecting...the only indication is how quickly the vehicles in your rear vision mirror get smaller.Having said that though it could be in need of a decent service, fuel filter change, boost solenoid clean, throttle body clean etc.

Looked at one yesterday down at Batemans Bay it was a 05 BF 75kms , the exterior was good, interior not so good burn in back seat , general scuffs and stuff. Car ran fine, bit hard to quage as it was wet but doing 80 clicks and plant it and it would break out into wheel spin , turbo was quite as a mouse on spool down no bangs or clunks ,dip stick seemed nice and shiny no signs of burnt oil, but no service history from 30klms to 75klms. New to 30klm it was done every 7500 and then nothing from then to 75000 service. also did a history check. NSW health car first 30klms then from there its had 5 seperate owners in 4 yrs and 45000klms. Should I be wary, does anybody know a good mechanic in this area????? Unfortunatly the VRX wont sell so I have to trade, so it makes it a bit harder. Found another one late 07 85ks perfect service history (so they say) etc $ 22000. See what they offer trade hey. Dush73 Member 56 Member For: 14y 23d Posted 17/10/10 10:10 AM Share Posted 17/10/10 10:10 AM So I went to a local dealer & took a BA(stock with full service history) for a spin.....& it was brilliant! Rushed back home & took mine for a spin & it don't go as well What I noticed mine does every time that the other BA doesn't(actually, only did once while it was still cold) is when you put your foot down & accelerating, as the Turbo is kicking in(around 40km/h) I get a sound best described as a "shudder" .....anyone familar with this sound & what it is. Is it bad? I'm assuming its the noise from the wastegate, but as I know little about Turbo's & this is my 1st time owning one, I'm clueless. Would a local mechanic be able to go over it & identify any issues in regards to the Turbo/ associated components or is it best taking it to a specialist place that deal with Turbo'd cars? Any recommendations in Sydney South, & what would I expect to pay roughly for it to be looked over? Thanks Guys

THey know these things back-to-front so would be able to have a look for you.Ford XR6 Turbo.com -> Advertisers ForumsDid you buy it from a dealer? Does it have any statutory warranty? Dush73 Member 56 Member For: 14y 23d Posted 17/10/10 10:33 AM Share Posted 17/10/10 10:33 AM The sound is very repetitive under acceleration only, hard to describe....kinda like when you have a car window open & the air passing through makes that resonating sound.Nah bought it private....hopefully nothing serious & don't cost me a packet. I'll check out the site sponsors thanks.Any other opinions on this sound more than welcome
