Cuz if it is my old man is looking to replace his sub in his FG G6ET and ill get 2 of these JBL subs and give him one. If the FG is different, does anyone know of a direct repacement aftermarket subwoofer avaliable for the FG's? A sub needs a box.. I would suggest getting a small sub in box premade to fit a corner in your boot if that's what your worried about... If you change the sub in the tray, you wont hear much difference but you will feel it as it rattles your entire car more.. my 2 cents Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/70899-direct-replacement-aftermarket-subwoofer/#findComment-1045421 Share on other sites
seduced Need more power. Now taking donations. Member 753 Member For: 16y 1m 18d Gender: Male Posted 05/10/10 10:58 PM Share Posted 05/10/10 10:58 PM Dynamat the entire rear parcel shelf and the JBL will run fine. This is critical.I did this to my BF and the stock sub came to life. It actually produces great bass now, and sounds reasonably good. It still doesnt like high volumes though, need to upgrade aswell. Dynamat a portion of the parcel shelf, you dont need to do the entire shelf, there was a link somewhere here to a web site showing how a little was just as effective as a lot of this stuff. Hit a drum kit symbol and then touch it with your finger tip, it will stop ringing just as quickly as if you threw a blanket over the entire symbol.Buy a small bit and go halves with your mate. Posted 31/10/10 08:33 PM Share Posted 31/10/10 08:33 PM world of warcraft sell subs now?!I sold a JBL 8" direct replacement sub not to long ago here. You need to upgrade the ford amp to make full use of itno point having a 200watt sub with a 200w amp, then upgrading the sub to 1000w while the amp is still only 200w Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/70899-direct-replacement-aftermarket-subwoofer/#findComment-1051862 Share on other sites
Spoony Member 250 Member For: 14y 6m 3d Gender: Male Location: Brisbane Posted 02/11/10 12:07 AM Share Posted 02/11/10 12:07 AM I'm looking at doing this also. Looking at the specs of the three subs mentioned the Polk may be the best option. Realistically boxed or free air one should aim to achived a total Qt value of around 0.7 for best results. The lower the value the less mechanical/electrical reistance the higher the more. So in free air situation a low Qt will see a poor control and likely 'kick'. The Polk is spec'd at 0.6, add the fact there is some interior boot lining etc and this would likely increase a little. Sensitivity of 90dbhttp://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/specs/8inch/speakers/mm840dvc/The JBL is 0.42, so I would imagine a bit 'loose' for this application, reasonable sensitivity of 91dbhttp://www.jbl.com/resources/Brands/jbl/Products/ProductRelatedDocuments/en-US/BoxesandParameters/GTO%20804D.pdfThe Pioneer is a huge 1.64 !!!!! I would think it would be very tight even in free air, maybe 'hit' ok (if feed enough power) but be somewhat lacking in output? It also has fairly low sensitivity of 85db making this worse!Ryda Car Audio - Pioneer Car Audio TS-SW841D 8" Subwoofer($218.85)So on paper for this application the Polk would seem to be the best option.
