Ordered my husband a 50th Anniversary XR6T - manual in Viper a couple of weeks back - delivery date is the 15th of October.

At the time I ordered it they didn't tell me that the spare wheel was on of the idiotic space savers. I found out 10 days after I paid the deposit. I rang Ford immediately and requested the spare mag and they told me it was too late in the assembly to order it and to order it as a spare part AFTER the car was delivered. I was a little annoyed then, and and then they got back with the price!!!! If I ordered it with the car it was $250 (which s fair enough) but as a spare part - $1110.48 rim only! the tyre is another couple of hundred.

I told the guy I was dealing with that the price was completely ridiculous and he told me he'd look into getting another 19inch -but not matching.

Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do about it?

Spoke with the dealer today - the best they can do is a 17inch alloy so we don't have the speed limited spare . . . . .

Pick up 15th October :) - - does any one else have te XR6T 50t anniversay in Manual an Viper?

Still wouldn't recommend trying to break speed records with an odd-sized wheel though. It'll probably give the traction/stability control a fit as it is.

You don't need a full sized spare.. Can't rotate the tyres as most are directional nowadays and as stated above, the wheel will get scuffed and the tyre will go off.. The concept of a full sized spare is like a dash protector mat which is old school.. We only want them because that is what we are used to..

And really, you can be angry and complain.. but surely you would have read the glossy pamphlet which clearly states that a matching spare alloy wheel is an option for all models...

call it shallow but I prefer to drive my car (if punctured) and it not look fuct like it does with a space saver.. sure its a get you home thing but still, prefer to have the right matching one in the well..they must have a spare 17" lying around as that seems a bit lame but hey, its a spare...better than nothing ! no viper here but a manual ! you will like it after a week ! first week its still quite tight but loosens up and feels a lot better after 600k's and counting ! :spoton:

I ordered my ute with a 19inch spare. After I did they reprinted the sales brosure becuse you cant have a 19inch spare in the ute, as it hangs down too low. I have allways get matching spare. On my first BA the 18' tyres were $700 each, so $250 for a tyre and wheel was worth it, even if it meant I only needed 3 tyres next time.

Its a pitty if you missed out, but if they have started production might be too late??

I think viper is one of the rarest colors of the 50th's

Same thing here, I forgot to order the matching spare for the XR6T 50th I bought.

I had a matching spare with the last XR6T.

Guess I will have to keep away from gutters, nails and holes in the road.

Divorce him and Marry me. I'll take an FG Phoon or a new SC'd 8

I also had an issue with Ford for the 50th anniversary turbo ute. I have the original july brochure listing full sized alloy spare as one of three options on this car. When the dealer claimed I could not have it was ready to cancel my order. It took an email from ford to convince me that there is no full size option available for the 50th anniversary ute. The brochure was reprinted in august with two options - no full size spare. Anyhow taken delivery of Nitro ute - very happy.
