Ordered my husband a 50th Anniversary XR6T - manual in Viper a couple of weeks back - delivery date is the 15th of October.

At the time I ordered it they didn't tell me that the spare wheel was on of the idiotic space savers. I found out 10 days after I paid the deposit. I rang Ford immediately and requested the spare mag and they told me it was too late in the assembly to order it and to order it as a spare part AFTER the car was delivered. I was a little annoyed then, and and then they got back with the price!!!! If I ordered it with the car it was $250 (which s fair enough) but as a spare part - $1110.48 rim only! the tyre is another couple of hundred.

I told the guy I was dealing with that the price was completely ridiculous and he told me he'd look into getting another 19inch -but not matching.

Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do about it?

Tell him youll walk if he doesnt get one for you. Not sure if you could actually do this as part of the sales requirements but it could work

I think that you should go back to your salesman because if I'm not mistaking the rear floor pans are different and you will not be able to fit a mag without it sitting about 5 inches above the rest of the floor pan or at least that was the case with the BFs when I was in the Ford parts business.

Read the cooling off period on your contract. I think your stuck with it.

I threw my space saver in the shed. It does not go with the brembo's anyway.

Bought a can of finileak. Saved weight, more room in the boot.

Unfortunately its not up to the saleman to inform you of all this or anything about the car. In saying that though. The poor buggers make stuff all on a car sale. Its the accessoiries and finance they get you to take that make them the money. I guess it all comes back to having a good dealer or not.

Buying a new car should be a hoot, unfortunately some just don't give a toss, and ruin the experience. Like you loose at least a quater of what you paid in less then 1km from the dealer as it is with a new car. The experience should be more of a joy than it is.

You only need a spare 19" if you have big brakes that require the fitment. You will leave that spare in the boot, the tyre will go hard and be useless long before you consider using it and the rim will get scuffed. Space saver will get you to a tyre shop and weighs stuff all. No need to walk away from a sale or be miserable.

It's the game that we have to play though unfortunately. Especially with it being a special edition rim.

I was all emo after forgetting to option the full-size spare with the G6ET but soon got over it once applying South's rationalism. And it gives so much more boot space...get at least an extra body in there now I reckon. :stirthepot:
