I am going to purchase a G6E Turbo and have noticed when looking on-line that the Dashboard on the 50th Anniversary edition has silver highlights where the standard G6E Turbo has polished timber highlights (fake timber I guess).

I am going to the dealer this weekend to have a look for myself.

My mate in Melbourne has the G6E turbo (Iam in Sydney) and the last time I saw it, I remember thinking that the dash looked very classy.

My current Territory Ghia has silver highlights and I dont think it looks quite as classy and the 50th Anniversary dash looks like it would have the same look. My opinion may change once I see it in the flesh.

I am interested to know what others think? You can see the pics if you google it or follow these links:

My other question is whether you would rather go for the 19inch wheels on the 50th Anniversary Edition or the regulary 18 inch version. Is the 50th Anniversary G6E T a better looking car than the regular G6E Turbo inside and out?

Cheers

The XR6T 50th anniversary model has the same dash and dash fascia as the stock G6ET.

The 50th anniversary G6ET dash and fascia looks cheap and nasty.

Yes, I spoke to the Ford dealer today and he told me that as well. He was also bemused as he thought the dash that is now in the XR6 T 50th Anniversary model is a more luxury dash so it should be in the G6E T. Ford have also discontinued the Ego colour for the G6E Turbo. Strange decisions and the Ford staff dont understand why they have done this either.

The dealer has a standard edition with the classier dash for 5k less so I am seriously considering not taking all the extra options... it just depends on how it looks when I am there. I am not sure that the 19's add much to the look of the car either as they are pretty basic looking... I think the wheels on AndrewD's look significantly better. With the 5k I will save, I can put it into wheels that I want and have change too.

I could never have justified the extra cost for the 50th. Why would I even try to when I paid $43K for a new undriven demo 2010 and the 50th are what $54K??

I like the seats in the 50th and the rear bar painted silver, but that's about it

OK, I went to the ford dealer today and saw the new dash on the 50th Anniversary Edition... I think it comes up much better in real life than it does in photos. I still prefer the original dash (only JUST) but now I do prefer the 50th Anniversary edition. One think that I noticed is that the silver on the centre part of the dash is a different tone and texture to the silver part that extends over the glove box and door trim. Its not terrible but does not match.

Anyway, these are minor gripes.... I took it for a spin (in the wet) and even in standard trim the traction control was working overtime to keep the thing planted. My wife took it for a spin, didnt really activate the turbos, and just loved the way it drives. Now that the missus loves it, I will soon have one of these in my driveway. . I cant wait to buy this car and take it out for a drive in good conditions.

As for mods.... we will just have to wait and see how long it takes for the bug to bite!!!

Bloody awesome car!!!
