Hey guys, at the moment there seems to be a few options available for increasing the cold airflow into the engine. The costs vary from $40 - $360+, and no doubt the results vary too. I have linked a few threads and maybe with a bit of feed back on the various options we can make the decission process a bit easier for those contemplating this mod.

Home made 2nd cold air intake

SS indution air intake

XR8 intake

Some people use only the XR8 intake and some have combined it with the original XR6 Turbo intake, similar to the home made 2nd intake.

I personally like mine and am very happy with the results. I think that adding an XR8 intake to the existing one is also a good option.

I think that with any of these options a good panel filter (BMC or K&N) is a must.

I'm not a big fan of the SS intake as I believe it doesn't offer value for money when compared with the other options.

These are only my thoughts  and no doubt there will be many varied opinions on the subject. Hopefully after everyone has voiced their thoughts those contemplating this mod will be the wiser for having read this thread.

I put the XR8 complete assembly on my car, and after driving it around for the past few months, im a big fan! It has definately picked up some more KW's, looks kinda factory (used genuine Ford parts), didnt have to cut any metal, and I can put the original XR6T air cleaner assembly back on in about 20 mins if necessary.

Id like to thank Harasn and everybody else here that gave me the idea!

I have the XR8 airbox and couldn't be happier! Was thinking if I kept the cars long enough to cut a hole in the front of the bumper to really jam the air in to the ducting but would have to do a very neat job to make look right! will see! might play with one to see one day!

I hate these air intakes that block air flow to the radiator and the like! seems very dangerous to me from the testng we have done! we need better air flow not reduced airflow! I would be uite happy with the ss inductions kit with out the plates infront of the radiator but that mod costs more than the xr8 set up cost me!

Does anyone know if there are K&N type filters available for the xr8 airbox? might go search! That was the most expensive part!

For the last six months ive been using a BMC panel filter, very happy with the extra rush in the top end and air intake is very clean(no oil all dust).

I have the xr8 set up ( under light inlet tube ) going into the xr6 box, also using the xr6 inlet tube. cost me $10.00 to do.

I also run a bmc pannel filter and have cut all the webbing out inside the air box.

not quiet finnished yet, but it is running better than ever.

XR6 standard airbox & intake = 206.1kW shootout mode (with centre muffler removed.

Then added XR8 under-headlight intake plus ducting to std airbox = 223kW. Still with the standard Ford filter.

More induction noise, could definitely notice that the T had more urge! Still retained that under-bonnet factory look.

Hey 56Mainline have you the part numbers for the XR8 under headlight intake and ducting.

How much did they cost and any photos.

Thanks
