Had that the other day, gave my mate a ride since he'd not been in it since it was stock. He loved it so much he told his workmates all about it. His Monaro isn't anywhere near fast enough for him now! :turboboink:

Hey everyone!

so im 19, owned my XR6T for 2 years... stepped up out of my 34rwkw 91 Toyota hilux into my BA MKII xr6t pulling around 195rwkws... It was definitely an expierence and id like to thank my father for sending my ass off to a driving school (say what u want) but boy did that put my head on in a straight line and help me like I cant explain it! not saying im a bad driver, but it was definitely an experience. so after about 6 month of the car I was a 100% use 2 it. My old man set up a 1 passenger policy which I abided and did as I was told. I did a little tweak here and there with mods and soon ran 220rwkws and had fun getting use 2 that again!

I dont take my mates for joy rides! I dont act like a 2am hoon laying rubber down on public roads, let alone do I make a public road my speedway! Now im 19, I have been given my full license, never had an issue with the cops, never been given the raised eyebrow, sure some of my mates think I baby my car, truth of the matter is I dont, they just dont realize I do give it a bit of a boot full when im alone! when I have no distractions, back seat passengers or pressure.

Now I have managed to prove myself to myself, family, friends etc, im taking the time to enjoy myself and have some fun and getting my car tuned in a weeks time(check my signature for mods) and should be pushing around 320+ rwkws. Truth of the matter is I know im responisble, I know I can drive a car such as that, and im confident within myself I will be responsible becuase loosing my license is not an option. if I want to feel the need for speed, take it to the track not the road. everyone has their own opinions and options. I say and will always say. whether u have a 34 rwkw hilux or a 340rwkw xr6t, they both can go a 100km/h and they can both inflict as much damage as each other. its not the car but the responisiblty of the driver that counts. people need to understand that!

thanks for reading, and im happy 2 see there are a lot of responsible Xr6T and FPV owners out there that do what they do as a passion and a hobby!

good on u boys! :turboboink:

Being fairly young myself, im so glad to hear that from a 19 year old, it annoys me no end to hear p platers come on here and say "I want a xr6 turbo and want 350rwkw" Eff off! learn to drive first!

If every p plater had your attitude the roads would be a safer place. Good luck with it mate. :turboboink:

Cheers benji!

I must be old fashioned but nothing annoys me enough when I see bunch of P plate tossers loaded up with 5 people in a lowered statesmen edging on the driver to lay a burnout! Seriously. What's the point? Want to do a burnout? Take it to days such as summernats and gazzanats or powercruises and Leave sum rubber behind there where there are officials or people who can assist u if the worse were to happen. I'm not saying I'm an angel nor am I trying to make a hypocrit of myself as I do at times get a bit foot heavy but that's from 0-60 or 0-100 on a freeway and all in control and seeing what these amazing pieces of machinery can do. I'm not breaking any laws, and I am well in control of my vehicle. Good one people having some fun. But I think speaking for my generation, having fun can cost u a serious price. So don't be stupid and jump behind the wheel of a highly modified vehicle with the anticipation of showing off to your mates. It proves nothing.

to pun an old Pirelli advert with carl lewis in it, "power is nothing without control "

so whenever I have given people a run in our jap perofrmance cars over the years, I have basically got the car to a quieter area, got it into decent revs in 2/3rd and given it a boot to sit them back in their seat and then a smooth drive around the country lanes.. staying within speed limits and just generally letting them enjoy the ride. There's no fun (for most people )as a passenger being battered about while you smash through gears on full chat ! pulling hard out of a decent corner is fun but sensibility has to reign supreme when you have others lifes in your hands !

this thread has been a good read! love the saying "power is nothing without control"

but when it comes to mates and people I no asking me to take them for a spin I feel like asking them if my car looks like luna park and is there just to take people for fun rides, my car is my transport to and from work each day so without it or my licence theres no bills getting paid. Why would I thrash my car, waste my tyres and risk getting my car impounded or worse just for someone else to feel what a modded xr6 T goes like? This is why I dont like to let anyone no what ive done to my car!!!

that's a valid point as well mate! by all means if people ask whats under my hood ill tell them, but I expect them 2 take my word for it instead of hassling me for a spin! its a 1800kg machine, its not a gameboy! theres 2-4 lives at risks and that is the reality! people need to understand that! I sometime wish I bought a ute 2 enforce there is no room for joy riders
