BCR01 nearly everyone I know knows what I have, most people that know me are inerested it. it did really well at the dyno comp for motormania couple of months (even beat a twin turbo maloo)ago and all me mates knew I was building it. I get generally asked how it is goin how much power it made ect followed by "you will have to take me for a ride one day". the whole reason I got a turbo ute in the first place was cause a mate took me for a ride in his. I had always liked them and was actually looking to buy an XY XW. and no I didnt beg him for a ride I actually did some work on it for him and he would not leave me alone till he took me for a ride. basically the XY idea got the arse and xr6 turbo ute idea was in. :violent085:

I made the mistake of taking 1 mate for a spirited spin in mine and then for the next 3 months

everytime he had a mate visiting he would ask me to come and take them for a drive........It didnt happen.

The last thing I need is no license just so I could show off to a stranger.

I also reckon 300 to 350 is pretty ideal for a road car daily driver.

Having said that....

A good mate has a LJ Torana with 1540HP at the wheels and its driven every other day and it drives fine

and can be cruised easily (regularly does 300ks plus in a day) but he has owned it for years and knows

what it can and cant do and respects the power. mind you being able to start smoking the tires at 180

is also fun (in a controlled environment of course).

A little of topic but...

I have many freinds asking me to take them for a ride in my XL Ranger....................

I have a think has less to do with power and more to do with it being a ute!

Yes it is my ute and NO YOU CANT borrow it! :censored:

P.S. this iw why hard covers are good.. "I would help you pick up your new fridge, but sorry it wont fit in my ute!"

Why the hell is it that you build a fast ute, polish it, look after it and every friend and family member thinks they have a right to borrow it to move their couch, bed or fridge. No I dont look after my car so it can get scratched because you're too lazy to hire a trailer.

by the way I use my ute for motorbikes and mountain bikes so have no cover on it.

that's why its good to be friends with a bunch of computer nerds, none of them really care, hence why I still have my license :D

At the end of the day, they want to know what 500rwkw feels like the same as you did when 300 wasn't enough. How many people here stop at 300? Everyone gets used to power and wants to find out what that little bit more would be like. Your mates are the same. If your car made 300, and a friend of yours made 350, you wouldn't say "nah, I dont want to go for a spin, that's dangerous and just stupid..." You all would and have asked to see "what its like".

So now you own something powerful, you have obviously told people about it, and secretly proud of its mega power (who wouldnt be..) and now you look down on people who ask you for a ride because they should know better? They should know that 500rwkw is useless under 100km/h? If they knew what is was already like, they wouldn't be asking for a ride would they!

So whats the solution? If you are making big power, don't tell anyone. Tell them its stock... because you didn't modify it to impress people, just for personal enjoyment right? that's why we never enter them into dyno comps or power cruises....

:wavey: Agreed... Solution = Dont modify your car.

I don't have a problem with taking people for a drive. I like to give them a scare. But then my car isnt useless below 100ks either.
