has anyone else had this problem with them getting really windey almost squeeling when hot.

Yep , I only have a single 044 on my PW surge tank mounted correctly with the PW quitening kit, after about 2-3 hours continous driving the thing sounds like swarm of angry bee's ! Whines more than the ex girl friendcrybaby.gif

044s get loud when hot as the use the fuel itself to cool... some sort of heat shielding could help for the ones mounted near the engine bay.

They also get loud if flow through them is restricted, but this shouldnt be an issue with the surge kits available for our cars.

044s have a mind of their own. Intank they are OK but externally they are too noisy when they get a bit warm. Winter OK, come summer with the heat of the road radiating up and they are embarassingly noisy.

Having a surge tank close to the road/engine/exhaust is another flaw many make as a radiating heats just makes matters worse. Best bet is to use the Pierberg

Tuners can actually rectify the problem by decreasing the voltage to the pumps when at idle and giving the pumps total voltage when they are at open throttle vcm suite allows u to do this . at idle the can be quiet and at full swing the motor is too loud anyway . I guess that's the difference between tuners

Care too elaborate on this mate? I tune with HPT/VCM suite and dont see how its possible. I also dont see how the hardware driving the fuel pumps on our cars allows this too happen.

I know the returnless GM's use variable pump voltage to control fuel pressure etc, but consider our cars pumps are relay switch by the PCM i dont see the facility to vary the current as per the GM's...??
