There was a few publications about the Christmas/New Years roadtoll down here in Vic and how we were the worst state in terms of numbers, yet the Victorian Police had their Remove All Impared Drivers or 'RAID' operation in play, which was 'the biggest ever traffic operations taskforce ever'. If in their eyes pulling people over and giving them tickets reduces the road toll, how come the road toll stays the same ever year? Next year they're thinking about putting the double demerit points bullsh*t in play. WHAT A JOKE.Instead of wasting tax payers money on Typhoons and spending time sitting on car enthusiast's arses trying to make them disobey the road rules is f*cking disgraceful. Why don't they spend money on more important things, like making sure each car on the road has sufficient braking capabilities, thus reducing the chance of death to serious injury.VICTORIAN STATISTICS:2003-2004 ROAD TOLL - 3362004-2005 ROAD TOLL - 3412005-2006 ROAD TOLL - 3452006-2007 ROAD TOLL - 3352007-2008 ROAD TOLL - 3355 year average - 338In 2008-2009 it is already at 308 and counting...Hmm... Seems the Victorian traffic management unit has done f*ck ALL in the past 5 years to reduce the road toll... WAKE UP PEOPLE

They recently changed a 60 km section (yes...sixty farking kilometres of the national highway) up here around Gympie to 90km/h to save lives.Try driving through that in a car that's more than capable of safely doing it at twice that speed and you suddenly feel the need to just find a farkin tree to run in to just to get over the boredom. Absolute wankers with NFI whatsoever. …oh and coming back after Christmas, total journey is about 600km and the only cops I see are in this new section of life-saving highway. That’s not opportunistic revenue raising is it!
FMJ Member 32 Member For: 16y 3m 28d Gender: Male Location: Croydon Posted 10/01/09 02:27 AM Share Posted 10/01/09 02:27 AM The most extreme example of this revenue raising mentality is the Hume Hwy. This world class road is easily able to accomodate travel speeds of at least 140 - 150 kmh. Even given allowences for less capable drivers and cars the limit should be 130kmh. Instead they have a limit of 110 and if you exceed that they book you for every kmh over 100!!! What the f*ck is that?? We are simply the victims of a nanny state mentality that encourages people to spend more time looking for speed cameras and watching speedos than looking for real hazards while driving. I can't see this situation changing any time soon.
