I purchased an ex-police XR8 today, 2004 XR8 with all the usual police options (premium brakes, side airbags and reverse sensors).

I pick it up Friday, looking forward to the BA driving experience again!

Thanks for the feedback guys and I will let you all know how it goes.

Here it is:

I know, it's not a GT, but if I could afford one I would have one!! :fool:

I swore I would never have stripes on an XR but this one already had them and I don't mind them at all, don't know if I will rip them off yet....

FYI Police cars are all owned by the Commonwealth Bank. Somehow they get such a friggin sweet deal, that even if the car is written off, they still make a profit on their investment. The write off value on a police car is far lower than a normal car.

Some are leased.

I just got back from a trip to Sydney where my Bro and his wife are both Senior Sergeants. He took me on a tour of police HQ and while standing our front his mate pulls up in his VZ SS highway car.

He comes up the stairs and says, "Watch no one steals it will ya - its running hot again and needs to cool down", and leaves it running in the street.

So we kinda watch it while he is inside, then he comes back out to get in and sits in it for about 10mins when the bonnet pops up and he comes over to us.

"Damn things not going anywhere!" The thing won't start...

Happens all the time apparently because they have got so much electrical equipment in them these days and the alternator can't keep up. Puts extra strain in the motor which runs hotter and in turn bursts its cooling system! Only happens to the Holdens.

The Patrol Officer proceeded to express his hate of Holdens and how crap the SS is and longs for his BA XR8 that he had prior. I thought it was gold! SO I took a pic!

You can see the coolant in the gutter, and the car went home on the back of a flat bed. Again...
