Guest Senator Guests Posted 08/01/05 01:45 PM Share Posted 08/01/05 01:45 PM There is no point the Highway Patrol Vehicles in NSW being equipped with the road spikes as they can rarely get the pre-deployment approval to use them, and have to many conditions/restrictions placed uoin there usage. Apart from a few years ago, or in the U.S. where the media covers such pursuits, here in NSW they canno not be used and has become nothing more then a publicity exercise. Feel better knowing that they use standard fuel and to use road spikes they actually have to be in front of you.... Like as if that's gonna happen....... Guest Senator Guests Posted 09/01/05 07:03 AM Share Posted 09/01/05 07:03 AM Police pursuits are always terminated by the Duty Operations Inspector, who oversees all pursuits and only lets them go for about 5-10Mins. After that your home free as no other police vehicle within a few suburbs is entitled to re-engage you in pursuit. As long as your not on a stright road for miles and miles, there is no possibility of road spikes being used to stop you. When you get the knock on your front door some days and even weeks later about who was driving your vehilce, you only have to cpmply with the Form of Demand by nominating a driver and that drivers home address. Soooooooo, all you have to do is make up a name and go make upan address. Give an international address, such as Baghdad which cannot be checked and makes no difference even if it is, as you are only required to nominate a driver and an address, which also includes international drivers, that may or may not exist.Good luck all.By the way, I got Guy Sebastian driving on the mobile phone last night after the concert. His South Australian drivers licence had expired greater then 2 years ago so he is also deemed unlicensed.

Engaged about 15 times and each time it was called off when he took it above 200kph.... They even identified the driver with photo's they got when he passed certain points, as a French national but could not catch him.. Don't know if they got him in NSW or not..........
