I think some of us are taking some of the comments made on these forums a little to personal.

Comments made on these sites are made by individuals who may not know or never know some of the people taking issue with the comments.

Geez, I am a public servant, I am happy to hear all the mud etc that goes with it, I do my job to the best of my abilities every day I go to work. If you guys taking offence do the same shrug it off, keep reading and contributing to the forum.

Personally I have a great deal of respect for the Police, I work with them pretty much everyday I go to work. Geez, my dad was a copper in both Canada and here in Victoria for 18 years.

I think the moral of my comment is, in some professions you need to wear a thick skin, but you also need to know (in this context) when to put weght into peoples comments.

Just my opinion, I'm suprised some ppl have gotten so hot under the collar.

I can't agree with you Sdrew after the amount of crap I have been through with them, when they can pull you over, through a number up in the air and say that that was the speed you are doing that is just crap.

I went to court over this crap and the magistrate agreed with me, the officer pulled a figure of this ass and said he was doing that much, why? because it was a red convertible Capri ....

Little did he know his maths ... at the 80 kmhs he was saying I was doing, I would have been covering 22 meter per second, the magistrate saw that I would have covered the street I was on in less that 3 seconds... Case dismissed .... B)

What happened ? I after much crap decided to park the Capri till later, choosing my current mature looking Mondeo... spend $2000 in legal fees which I got back a little of it....

Police be fair.... So sick of their bullcrap ....

It's all been discused before, but have a real good think about the way you were driving and then think about the way you spoke to the Police when you were first stopped.

People always remember those that are rude to them

A fast driven or erratically driven car is not only noticed by the Police, but by members of the public who ring up and complain.

So what, you had the matter dismissed at Court! Legal process is not started for NO REASON AT ALL. In this day and age it is just plain stupid to put someone before the Court on a 'nothing'

You must have very short streets wherever you are. Most streets are 200 metres long, you say the street you were on was 80 metres long.

I wasn't there, the Magistrate wasn't there, only you and the officer involved were there. Only you two people know what transpired.

I certainly don;t think any Police officer is going to target you just because you have a red Capri as I don;t believe anyone could be jealous of that. If it was an M5 or a E55 then I could understand.

You vindicate everything that myself and VG have been saying. No one else gets their profession hammered on these type of forums. If you want to slag the cops, go and do it on a Fast Fours and Bodykits type of forum with the cretins from Bankstown, Lakemba and other 'ful sik' areas that are inundated with the mentally challenged.

Little try hard wanna be rice excel tried me out last night, bah I couldn't be bothered, trying to keep my fuel as low as I can (15.5 which is a record for Gadan, never been that low, not even on HWY), and I still took him to the 60 limit :D

Another thing that I have been doing at work for a long time as adhering to the theory of Cognitive Consistency.

This means Bad people do Bad things. Therefore drug dealers, break and enter merchants, assailants, recidivist traffic offenders, not only commit crime in their chosen field (Bad People) they also do Bad Things such as drive recklessly, modify their car without inquiring as to whether it is legal or not, drive whilst unlicensed/unregistered and see their license a God given right (It's not it's a privilege bestowed by the community).

All criminals need transport to get around. In Australia that method of transport is a car. Remove the transport options for criminals then that interrupts their business plan (access to their chosen criminality or customers) therefore it slows down or puts them out of business.

Those people who are incredibly vocal about their "Hard done by" experience with the Police need to have a good look at themselves;

(a) they abrogate their personal responsibility in complying with (however trivial it may seem) the wishes of the majority (the law)

(B) they transfer their action and responsibility to others I.e: The Police for their lack of compassion and understanding

© seem to believe that the law doesn't apply or it is stupid therefore they have a right to act beyond it and show a distinct lack of respect for other people within the community or on the road

Having been fortunate to interact with the vast majority of this Forum, I believe that 99% of members are responsible hard working enthusiasts who are mature enough to debate a point and accept constructive advice and criticsm.

Just a quick look at the number of threads containing questions of modifications and legality show that the XR6/XR8 demographic are mature responsible enthusiasts that want a little bit more out of their car legally!!

Umm, Cop Story Time...

Well there was a guy who got a new Ducati who rode it to the big smoke and back after the 1st service at - well - a bit over the legal limit. When this said guy, got to the bits of the road he usually travels on (2 hours from home) he increased his speed to something (this fella has told me) was in the oreder of 135/140 klms/hr.

This good looking Ducati riding idiot notices a white car going down a dirt road leading to the highway, and thinks nothing of it - at that speed it's easy to do. So, into the double lanes, sitting on 125, then the white car in the very distant distance is growing F'ing large F'ing quick.

Damn it gentle reader, some people should have stayed on a BMW where they belonged.

Lights go on, the person in question pulls over. Very quickly, then kills the engine and takes off the helmet. The rider got asked how fast he was going so he said 120. Then the licence check in the car (it was/is clean). The Officer says top behave and slow down, then disappears into the Highway Patrol Car and takes off. This struck me as strange cause a mate was in the HWP and said that maintaining control was the key. Let them (us) go first and watch.

Not being a complete idiot, this rider then thanked the Gods, and drifted in to the next town doing 100, being passed by little Korean things and such like.

Sure enough, just before the 80 zone into town there is my friend (and I considered him such) in the bushes facing my way. Radar visible (just) between the greenery.

I (I mean this guy I know) stiffled the urge to wave - no one likes a smart arse!

Fast forward to yesterday, I am a contestant in a local thing where by some invited guests hav a go at a celebrity go kart race at the local track. One other invited guest is a member of the HWP. This guy (who I hasten to add is 20 kilos lighter than me) passed me down the straight. So when we stopped I said - see at 3pm on Saturday arvo mate.

"I thought the race was at 1pm?"

"The time got changed when you passed me down the straight"

Eventually I said, "no, just kidding ya"

He asked the organiser three times if the race was at 3pm.

I agree with you on this Plonky. To have a license is a privilege not a right.

Plonky,

I agree with almost everything you said.

I think everyone would do well to walk a mile in your shoes ( as the saying goes ) .

What facinates me more than enything else is the ALTERNATE WORLD that some people live on. If you're driving an illegally modified vehicle at illegal speeds in an illegal manner, you expect the people who are charged by duty to uphold the law to do what?!? Let you go on your merry way???!! PLEASE, WAKE UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!!!!!!!
