Anyone can go down to Autobarn and pick up a blue and red neon, whack it on the dash and they can impersonate the cops.

Very true, so from now one, nobody bother to stop for them.

I am a new member and will be getting mine in April. Just to correct some facts about what people are saying about the XRs with the NSW Police.

We have purchased XR6T for the Police not necessarily for Highway Patrol, but for other special duties and I would thing that we would probably see XR6T cars purchased for the Highway Patrol if the technical problem with the XR8s autos not resolved soon. (either the auto's are not meant to handle the 260KW or some other technical problem and I am sure Ford technical people will solve it soon).

As for the WRXs we had received from Subaru about 8 all togather we did not buy them they were given to us for trials. Whilst they were very good in the wet and at low speeds around town they lacked the top speed on the open roads which the XRs or SS did have the upper hand on.

As for some of you contemplating out runing the High Patrol you should remember this quote "Should the time arise for you to out run us, you may not live long enough to enjoy driving the XR6T."

Drive carfull and take good care of the XR6T on the road. I'll wave or sound my sirens or flash my blue lights to you in good gesture the next time I see an XR6T on the road.

Alan

I know this post is a lil stale, but the WRX trials were in the 90's.

Just saw a late model (GE/GH series) WRX used by Perth Police on "The Force" tonight.

In 2005 I saw a Subaru WRX used by Cabramatta police cruising around the CBD ... uniformed police inside, but pretty sure that was a community liason car.

Got done today by just your average undercover blue commodore. He sat at the bottom of a hill and got me for 66 in a 50 zone. Dont care about the fine, I just want my 3 out of 4 points back.
