^I call BS.

Modded WRX that you could hear? An illegally loud exhaust?

Inciting a race by revving their engine is against thier own laws. I have heard of them doing it, but you could only ever get booked for speeding not street racing or excessive noise. So no impounding.

Most likely, that modded WRX was confiscated from a hoon. But instead of destroying it, they decided it could be put to good use in police work.

Most likely he was racing a legit WRX boyracer but the cops caught them. Probably made the story up so it sounded cool.

Think about it. A cop encouraging a race by revving? A modified WRX? C'mon...

That's all believable, have been in a similar situation myself (but it was a bommodore), however the magnetic siren being placed on the roof is a bit 70's-ish :beerchug:

I was pulled over years ago here in Newcastle by a white VR/VS dunnydoore with very dark tinted windows, lowered with alloy rims and a fox racing sticker in the back window. I was not racing just got me for doing 54 in a 40 zone near the foreshore in Newcastle

Saw a brand spanking H*^#d*N- R8 (white) get delivered to the Alderly (Qld) police complex last week on the back of a Tray.

Then a couple of days later I saw it on the road, so keep an eye in your rear-veiw because that is the only place it deserves to be. :beerchug:

Have seen hire cars with blue/ red light kits sitting on rear dash and when I mentioned this to the police promo girl at the school fete (with her SS demo car), she said it was quite a common practice to use hire cars. :beerchug:

Ridiculous how often this fairytale keeps popping up with the usual reason explained here very well.

Get caught out being a fool and make somehing up to make it sound cool.

When the coppers used to drive the XB-XC V8 interceptors, the traffic cop drivers would reverse the top on the air filter intake lid just to make a massive induction noise, and switch it back at the end of the day, but if they got caught, their boss kicked there ass.
