This is more for Plonky, or another NSW policeperson.

The other day I was driving along and I saw a VERY NICE XR8 Pursuit car, anyway it had on the bonnet what I think was JJ in those big black letters, which I think designates what command the car comes from...

Its just that up here on the north coast of NSW, near Grafton at the time, I cant think of ANYWHERE around here that would belong to those initials!

If anybody could help me it would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Brendan

Can't think of where JJ is on the North Coast. They change the names of the divisions we work in all the time (I guess constant change keeps us always on the back foot so we don't have time to realise how the Police are being jerked around by the Govt.)

The big black letters on the hood of the car do signify the division the car is attached. They are there for the benefit of the Helicopter (that's if it is allowed out of Bankstown due to operating costs)

For the Grafton area, it used to be called Mid North Coast or Northern Region. Because Lismore is not too far away the letters JJ may have been LL which would signify Lismore.

The only reason HWP cars travel such large areas is because the RTA supply the NSWPOL with funding for traffic enforcement operations.

As I said they have dumb codes for the cars. OR means Dubbo, CF means Bathurst, CB means Orange. That ususally signifies the Local Arsa Command = OR is Orana, CF is Chifley, CB is Canobolas.

It's is actually more confusing. If you say Bathurst Local Area Command, you know you mean Bathurst. If you say Peel Local Area or Lower Hunter you could be anywhere.

Darling River LAC. Hands up if any school student these days knows where the Darling River runs!

Some wa*ker got promoted many years ago by having the brainwave that if the Division (I worked in 28 Division - Mt Druitt) was renamed to reflect the Patrol you worked in, the Police would be more readly relate with the people within the Patrol. Therefore 28 Division was renamed Mt Druitt Patrol.

The cars callsigns went from 28/1 (signifying the Primary truck - F150) to Mt Druitt 1.

All it did was create longer callsigns which added precious seconds to radio transmission. For example, the Kings Cross Beat Police call sign went from 'Alpha 40' to 'Kings Cross Beats 40'

Yeah, I sure felt warm and fuzzy being reminded that I worked in an area containing a large majority of people that don't have the same personal and moral values as myself!!

Whilst driving down Springvale Road (east of Melbourne), I noticed an umarked Phatom XR6T who was just in the process of booking a motorist.

So it you ever want to take on another T at the lights, just make sure it isn't a Phatom.

VG, was that you driving ?...

Sorry my friend, I am in the ACT. We have a few unmarked T's in our Police stables though. Funny how the first thing people do when I'm driving my own car is to slow down thinking I'm the cops ! Must be my short haircut and fat head

The weirdest cop car I have ever seen is on the way home from summernats last year. The car was an AU xr8 sedan with one hell of a weird bodykit, it surely wasnt a ford bodykit. There was a poor bloke in a nice HZ ute that got pulled up by him, and he didnt look happy! How f***ing sly are these cops getting.... :ermm:

Yea in QLD we are about to get a base Hyundai and put a 7 foot spoiler on with 15 inch mags, a body kit that would make a balaneze scooter owner proud. Oh sorry and a 50 inch subbie that has to carried in a trailer.

No one will suspect a thing we could park right next to the rest of the knobs and they wouldnt even know.

Saw a bloke pulled over years ago by a silver series 5 RX-7 unmarked. Don't forget many years ago, coppers used the Cooper S. A variety is good to keep us on our toes.

VG. If you DO look anything like your avitar, then I don't reckon that they are slowing down because they think you are a cop!

:smilielol: Very clever. Any you've spawned another a great idea. Introduce the Tuk-Tuk (as found in Thailand) as an unmarked police vehicle!

No would ever notice that crusiing around Australian city streets! The ultimate in a stealth surveillance vehicle! :hiwelcome:
