They change the names of the divisions we work in all the time (I guess constant change keeps us always on the back foot so we don't have time to realise how the Police are being jerked around by the Govt.)The big black letters on the hood of the car do signify the division the car is attached. They are there for the benefit of the Helicopter (that's if it is allowed out of Bankstown due to operating costs)For the Grafton area, it used to be called Mid North Coast or Northern Region. Because Lismore is not too far away the letters JJ may have been LL which would signify Lismore. The only reason HWP cars travel such large areas is because the RTA supply the NSWPOL with funding for traffic enforcement operations.As I said they have dumb codes for the cars. OR means Dubbo, CF means Bathurst, CB means Orange. That ususally signifies the Local Arsa Command = OR is Orana, CF is Chifley, CB is Canobolas.It's is actually more confusing. If you say Bathurst Local Area Command, you know you mean Bathurst. If you say Peel Local Area or Lower Hunter you could be anywhere. Darling River LAC. Hands up if any school student these days knows where the Darling River runs!Some wa*ker got promoted many years ago by having the brainwave that if the Division (I worked in 28 Division - Mt Druitt) was renamed to reflect the Patrol you worked in, the Police would be more readly relate with the people within the Patrol. Therefore 28 Division was renamed Mt Druitt Patrol.The cars callsigns went from 28/1 (signifying the Primary truck - F150) to Mt Druitt 1.All it did was create longer callsigns which added precious seconds to radio transmission. For example, the Kings Cross Beat Police call sign went from 'Alpha 40' to 'Kings Cross Beats 40'Yeah, I sure felt warm and fuzzy being reminded that I worked in an area containing a large majority of people that don't have the same personal and moral values as myself!! The car was an AU xr8 sedan with one hell of a weird bodykit, it surely wasnt a ford bodykit. There was a poor bloke in a nice HZ ute that got pulled up by him, and he didnt look happy!
