Aniken if I had been one of the officers in that broken down Brand Crap thing, I wouldn't be scratching my head I would be laughing my head off!!!!!

I'm certainly not offended.

They may have been trying to work out which of the following had broken:

Struts through the strut towers

Broken gearbox

Broken differential

Buckled wheels

Constant knock from the engine (piston slap)

The excess oil consumption

10k out of brand new 18's at 400 a piece

Leaking water jackets/cylinder sleeves

The envious looks from all the sheep that think "Holden's are full sik maaaate"

LOL, Heavy Slow Vehicles.

I saw a reasonably new Black VY HSV clubsport on the back of a RACQ 'tilt tray' tow truck this morning. hehe.

Obviously another twisted tail shaft or maybe it's even engine rebuild No. 1 time for the year?

For goodness sakes guys, show a bit of maturity and respect for what other people drive. You don't see guys on ls1.com bagging out Fords and all their problems, quite the contrary actually - they mostly seem mature enough to appreciate good cars no matter who made them unlike many people on here.

I don't know if it's because the people on here are younger, but it seems a lot of people on here all they do is say how Expensive Daewoo is crap blah blah, my Ford is so good, best car ever, and you even attack your own XR6T owners if they complain about it's faults!

Neither car is perfect, that's for sure, but both Expensive Daewoo and Ford make some bloody good cars in the XR6T, SS, SV8 etc.

The XR6T seems like a nice car, but I've slapped down a deposit on an SS wagon after considering XR6T, SS, SV8 etc. I've been reading all I can about all these cars for months before deciding - and one thing that certainly didn't help the Ford cause is the way many of you act on this forum.

Lots of people have brand loyalty - nothing wrong with that - but way you bag other cars at any opportunity is just plain infantile. Off my soapbox now.

Hate to say it but I agree. A nice car is a nice car. Things such as price can often be the decider between 2 cars like the SS or XR6T. This Expensive Daewoo v Ford thing is one of the most juvenile arguments I've ever heard. Both cars have many good things about them and I can tell you there is NO car in the world that is perfect. If someone is happy with their Expensive Daewoo then be happy with whatever you have. I would suggest that a very large proportion of the people on this forum dont own or have an XR6T on order (I do, 28 August delivery). Have an opinion on your car but if someone disagrees with you about a car type then let it be.

Lot of assumptions being made about why a car is stopped on the side of the road or on the back of a truck as well.

I like XR6Ts, I also like HSV Commodores, BMWs, think VRX Magnas look like, hell I like nice cars, dont care who makes 'em

Gee, I didn't think it was that bad

I can't speak for others here, but I personally used to drive a commodore ('S', VX series 1) before getting the XR6 Turbo. If anything, my experience to date has been that the Expensive Daewoo was more reliable than the Turbo - so far I've had a water pump 'o' ring replaced, and now my brakes are starting to shudder. that's after about 3 months and 7,000kms. Did not strike a problem in the commodore, at all, until 18 months/ 35,000kms.

Why did I change? Well, its something different, and company policy meant I could not get a V8 (of any sort). And I did not like the look of the new rear end on the commodore. My next car could quite easily be a Expensive Daewoo again, or something else that takes my fancy at the time.

As for this thread, for me the amusing part was more so the cops standing around trying to figure out what was wrong, rather than the brand of car. The heading I used was a teaser more than anything, so don't read too much into it.

And yes there are people on here who are die-hard Ford drivers would never say a good word about any other brand. But hey, that's why the world is such an interesting place - everyone has their own opinions.

And they werent happy!

Ok, so maybe my driving at the time was "enthusiastic".

And maybe I was approaching twice the legal limit on a deserted bit of road (ahead of me). But hey, Im in an XR6T and having a ball. It was almost time to go for 3rd gear.

And maybe I didnt see them a few cars behind me in the queue when I took off from the lights at a reasonable pace, leaving every one else for dead.

And maybe I finally saw a car in my rear view mirror weaving in and out of traffic at great speed trying to get some open road, and I noticed it wasnt dropping back as fast as the other cars.

So then maybe I realised I had better slow down, just in case....

But it was all worthwhile when the cop pulled me over 300m later. There were 2 of them in the SS. He was not happy. Im not surprised....my black XR6T looked MUCH better than his SS.

He asked what speed I was going "60 of course officer..." to which his reply was "Well we were doing 110kmh, and I had it completely floored still accelerating hard, and you were STILL pulling away from us"!!!

"Oh no officer, that cant be possible. I have this little chimer thingie set to remind me when I get to 100, for safe highway driving"

To which he said "I think you better get your little chimer thingie checked because it must not be working."

"Oh its working fine officer, I checked it was working just a minute ago..."

Ah, the life of an XR6T owner. Got to love it.
