There is no brand loyalty by the marketing employees.

Ask any marketing guy that is aspiring for a better set of wheels in the garage and see what car he wants to own. Answer will be a BMW, Mercedes, Porsche or Ferrari.

Real people with real passion for the product aim for the pinnacle of their companies achievements. If a Ford marketing guy was asked what car he is aiming for, it should be the new Ford GT (GT40 reborn) not a Porsche, BMW or Mercedes.

Ford can compete with the best of them. They can win with the best of them. Heck they can even outsell the best of them.

Ford is and should be an aspirational product, not just a means of transport from A to B.

Passion for a product can make more difference in selling it than any number of degrees in basket weaving!

Can't agree more. I was a bit disappointed with the Ford stand. I asked the guy in the merchanising section where all the XR6T stuff was and he replied .. "There is a hat". Even that had the "6" in RED. I replied under my breath that I think I bought the wrong car. I was really disappointed.

The Expensive Daewoo stand was buzzing, as usual. Ford was outdone again I'm afraid.

Hey Robbo - you know I saw the hat today in the spare parts department when Kitty and I popped in to pick up a pollen filter....

They had sold out at the motorshow and I was curious....

The red 6 pi55ed me off for sure.. If it ain't red on the car then why oh why should it be red on the cap?

The total lack of merchandise from Ford is not good. Expensive Daewoo has strong marketing, strong brand marketing - it's pervasive, it's everywhere. Ford can't even knock out a range of shirts that covers the 4 main 'hero' cars. (XR6/XR6T/XR8/FPV) in a couple fo different styles of each so we have choice....

Wasnt impressed at all. I could have seen all the cars (bar the all wheel drive thingy) at a local dealership. There was a much more exciting 'vibe' down at the Expensive Daewoo end and (and I know this will be controversial so dont smack me pse) it seemed as though they are still able to capture the Australian public's imagination far better than Ford does, despite the fact that Ford has a winner on its hand with the BA, at least for the moment anyway

It is not just the SMS that Ford has been out done! Go to any dept store and you will find Expensive Daewoo posters, scarves, socks , jocks( boxers as well ) shirts , cups , mugs , beer glasses even HSV pedal cars for kids etc .........Ford a coupla T shirts if you are lucky.

I do not profess to b a marketing Guru , but ......how hard can it B
