plonky The Bionic Man - half man-half titanium Member 1,766 Member For: 21y 10m 10d Location: Dodge Scat Pack Posted 06/12/03 01:57 AM Share Posted 06/12/03 01:57 AM I think there was a legality question in regards to the fitment of the XR8 standard airbox to the XR6T.By fitting factory stamped parts to a car this means that the parts have been approved by the manufacturer to fit a model.If you fit the standard XR8 airbox to the Turbo you are only replacing one part number with another, so therefore as far as the legality question goes I cannot see how you would have a problem.If the XTV8 has a normal square type of airbox, and the XR8 has the cylindrical type of airbox (of the Cobra) then fitting one to the other would also be legal, even though they are for different models within the range.I would speculate that the actual dimensions of the XR6 airbox and the XTV8 airbox are the same as well as the panel filter inside and it is only the ancillary connections and part numbers between models that are different.The XR8 airbox would look factory but has the advantage of design and flow.I would be more concerned for getting knocked off for having the centre silencer removed (and not replaced with another silencer) of having a drain pipe sized exhaust that make too much noise.Or being completely imbecilic and removing the standard airbox and replacing it with a rampod style fo filter attachment.
