I saw them when I bought the BMC filter for the still to arrive XR8 pod. I just can't bring myself to spend another $350 or so on another peice of plastic that's probably made in China and landed here for $30. I am changing tack and buying only metal parts from now on :nyaah::nyaah::nod:

I beleive the ssinductions are made in australia.

Also you say you are not buying more plastic well mybe you should have a good look at what all the car manufactures are using for air intake it is plastic.

Cold air might be getting expensive although I do not think it is to bad.

But cold air into the motor is better than hot air that comes from under the bonnet.

;) I'm just being cynical because I've wasted so much dosh experimenting.

I totally agree with you regarding the cold air and once this XR8 stuff is hooked up I probably won't be able to help myself. Already contemplating calling Perth exhaust centre on monday to price one up. I can see the advantage of having heaps of outside air flowing straight up the xr8 cylindrical type set up. It has to be more beneficial than the swirl that must be generated by the standard setup with an xr8mod or cold air induction. Anyway have to work all weekend, miss the V8s and no weekend cruise. Enjoy the weekend :nyaah:

:o At least the right man won the series.

Latest up date on plastic bits for cold air.

XR8 factory airbox & all fittings & front snorkel $215

BMC air filter $185

SS Cold Airbox system for XR8 $520

= $920 = DIVORCE at xmas time, = forget $520 for the SS plastic cold air induction setup regardless of where it's made, can get a bigger 500 HP rated intercooler fitted for $1200, now that's worth a xmas divorce :nod::nod:

that's ok, the kit included these adhersive spongy strips to insure joins from air box to pipe and piping to intake remained air tight.

Plonky, Do you think this set up will me in trouble with the law.

Now I'm not one for following every letter of the law when modifying but this question still needs to be answered. Is this modification legal? Seeing that you are modifying the factory air box I'm pretty sure that this wont be liked when the boys in blue are handing out their party invitations.

Hypnodoc

Looks like you won't have to get that divorce after all, as apparently the BA XR8 SS induction kit will not fit the T with the XR8 filter pod system installed (from customer service at SS).

After studying the picture on the website, I find it very hard to believe why the ss inductions wont work on a XR8 filter setup installed in a T. I am not doubting you one bit teebone, I have a XR8 assembly on my T, and it looks like the ss induction system would fit quite easily.......

Sounded odd to me as well ms700. I Queried the "will not fit" response on two seperate occasions - 2nd (clarified) response extracted from their Sales Dept email, as follows:-

"No, the induction unit itself will not fit in front of the engine or under

the bonnet. Sorry!"

This was with specific reference to the Turbo 6 Cyl already fitted with a complete XR8 air filter system.

However, if I definately wanted the upgrade now, I would be investigating further (haven't even got the XR8 system yet and the dealer was trying to talk me out of it about an hour ago, in favour of them adding the XR6 SS kit directly to the standard T for around $600-650)

decisions, decisions!

A dealer trying to talk you out of a sale, so that they make more money? Gee, that sounds familiar!

You can get the XR8 air filter assembly for aorund $230 complete, I would be going that way. I am so sure you can fit the SS induction later on down the track. If it fits a XR8 or a GT, I cant see any reason why it wont fit a 6 with a 8 airbox.

Go the XR8 air assembly. Harasn recommended it to me, and now I recommend it to everyone! Highly! :hrmm:

I have just installed the SS induction system and BMC panel filter. Not sure of any power gains yet no real difference in induction noise that I can pick up. Will drive it for a few days and let you know what I think.
