Edit:Thread Merged.

After searching for this topic I can't find it but I seem to remember seeing a photo of a acid rush XR6T I think that had a SS Induction kit fitted to it, and I remember people questioning the placment of the alloy air deflectors in the grill, thinking that they might hamper air flow through to the radiator.

If anyone can point me in the right direction or if you have one of these kits fitted yourself please give me your thoughts. I was also thinking of fitting the XR8 air filter assembly after talking to ms700 and just want some informed opinions to help me decide.

Thank for any help you can give me.

I friend of mine had the ss induction installed on his car a week a ago and he only had good things to say about it, I know it is a bit expensive, but it works very well, I'm surprised a few more T drivers have not invested in this product. The installation of the reflectors in front of the radiator is up to each person wheather they want to install them, I never had any heat issues.

So guys with various modified air intakes, what do you say??

Which performs better, bang for your buck -

SS induction (does it include a free flowing filter?)

XR8 second cold induction with B&M Filter?

XR8 Air cleaner assembly?

APS system?

Others ????

Here is how I did mine. I have also included a link to the entire post. Hope this helps.

There are obviously many ways of doing this. This is how I did it and I'm very happy with the result.

Here is all the parts I used.

From Clark Rubber Oakleigh.

1/2 meter HOSE FLEXI-FLO 63mm BLACK = $12.48

From Bunnings Warehouse Noting Hill.

Pt. No. - 9311381152990 DWV-PVC FLOOR FLANGE D78 D07865 65mm = $2.51

Pt. No. - 4921965 GUTTER - ACCESSORY 90mm DIAMETER GUTTERPLUG $15.03

Pt. No. - 9310086628786 SCREWS-SELFTAP S/S PAN UNIPA UBS2010 6G X 10mm SPH UP18 $3.35

Pt. No. - 5829514 CLAMP-MULTI PURPOSE 06/03 70-90mm bulk mp4p $2.44 X2

Here are some photo's of the air box pre mod.

The airbox is easy to remove with an 8mm socket. You will probably need to undo factory snorkel too.

You then need to make a hole in the airbox. I did this very amatuerishly with a drill and hacksaw. Probably be alot easier with a proper drill attachment in the correct size.

I then attached the floor flange with a couple of self tappers.

Here is how it looked. (the gutterflange is on in these photo's where as you actually put it on latter).

You now need to feed the Flexi hose through below the head light. Its very tight and difficult. You will need to push till it sits flush on the spoiler at the bottom. (we will come back to this soon).

Take your gutterplug and cut out the middle part, so it looks like a sleeve.

Place both clamps loosely on Flexi pipe.

Slide gutterplug half on to Flexi pipe, leave approximatly 1cm room (to slide gutterplug on floorflange).

With gutterplug in place slide both clamps on to gutterplug and secure 2nd clamp so gutterplug is securely attached to Flexipipe.

With this done you can now attach the other end of the gutterplug to the FloorFlange in Airbox. Then secure firmly with the clamp. ( do this before securing airbox).

Now rescrew Airbox into place.

It should look like this.

Now place your hand in the hole infront of the intercooler and manouver the bottom of the flexi pipe so it is facing to wards the middle of the car.

I also bought a BMC filter ($190.00 from Autobarn Glen Waverly)

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/photogallery/s...&aid=46&pid=182

After replacing the airbox lid this is how it looks.

http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/photogallery/s...&aid=46&pid=183

Total cost (not including BMC airfilter) was $38.26 .

I believe this mod coupled with the original snorkle should give the "T" ample cold air.

Hope this helps a few of you guys.

Thanks Geea, I read your original post and was planning to undertake this cheap effective mod but read of others.

Curious too know which would be more effective or would it be a marginal difference?

I think that this intake is at least the equal of any I have seen on this site so far. The reason I think this is that the pipe that leads from the airbox to the engine is a certain size and with the original intake plus the extra pipe you have much bigger total pipes going into the airfilter box than those leading to the engine. The second pipe also gets a great supply of cold air too.

I know that when I installed it I noticed a difference in how the car performed, this difference seemed more pronouced than when the centre muffler was removed.

If your in Melbourne PM me and I'll you can see for yourself.

Hope this helps.

:ta: I tried the xr8mod to the standard box with K&N filter. Drivability wise it works well but induction noise (sucking) gets quite loud. I have ordered the factory XR8 stuff and a BMC fiter to follow ms700s Variation. If anybodies interested in the complete XR8 adaption ready to bolt in with 3 week old K&N Filter. I have one for $150, $30 less than the K&N alone.

Email me hypnot@iprimus.com.au :blush::hrmm:

Perhaps consider one more option, which would be adding the SS Inductions XR8/GT cold air intake system to the XR8/GT filter pod assembly upgrade (with a BMC/KN cylindrical Filter) as this is reported as being beneficial for the boss engined cars. However, fresh air is getting rather expensive by this time!

 Hi Teebone.

I saw them when I bought the BMC filter for the still to arrive XR8 pod. I just can't bring myself to spend another $350 or so on another peice of plastic that's probably made in China and landed here for $30. I am changing tack and buying only metal parts from now on :hrmm::ta::hrmm:
